About this property
'Just a Step Away' - a Secluded Cabin on Stover Creek w/Fiber Wi-Fi & Hot Tub
We are a licensed host in Gilmer County #001182 This is a very private cabin on a beautiful large 3.5-acre lot. It is in a small community of larger plot mini farms along a secluded section of Stover Creek. This rustic and well-maintained chink log cabin is in its own valley and neighbors are out of view, even in winter months. The large, screened porch, with a luxurious hot tub, faces the woods. The relaxing sounds of nature and rushing water will wash away the worries of city life. Two king-sized bedrooms, large loft and sofa beds provide sleeping for up to 6 adults comfortably. Two large bathrooms and a washer and dryer provide facilities for all guests’ cleaning needs. The kitchen is well appointed, including a large refrigerator, a dishwasher and a full-size gas range and stove. There is super-fast fiber Internet, phone service through ETC, large smart TVs in the bedrooms and living room, and central heat and air. The atmosphere from a real wood burning stone fireplace, with a gas starter, makes it feel like camping without 'roughing it.' Firewood is provided. This wonderful retreat is in the Blue Ridge Wildlife Management Area of the Chattahoochee National Forest but is still only an hour and a half drive from Atlanta. There are lots of fun things to do in this area. Hiking abounds: the Benton MacKaye and the Appalachian Trails heads are about 12 miles away on Springer Mountain, and there is numerous hiking trails close by that lead to several waterfalls, a swinging bridge, and spectacular mountain views. Fishing opportunities in the numerous trout streams and in area mountain lakes are plentiful and cater to all skill levels. The kayaking and tubing opportunities on the Cartecay river and Toccoa river are very close by, and the shuttle services are inexpensive and easy to navigate. More challenging guided white-water rafting is a short drive away, as well. Mountain bike trails and horseback riding are also easy to locate and enjoy. Beautiful downtown Ellijay is about 15 miles away. Ellijay has numerous antique shops and art galleries and small eateries. Ellijay is host to an apple festival in October, while the numerous orchards are open all year long and have tours, some offer hayrides and petting areas for the kids. The city of Blue Ridge is about 25 miles from this cabin. Blue Ridge offers old-fashioned train rides along the Toccoa River and plenty of shops, restaurants and bars to enjoy as well. The entire area is rich with history and southern culture and charm. The mountains of northwest Georgia are not overly touristy or trashy. The locals have character are pleasant and eager to please visitors. Simply driving through this naturally beautiful area is a scenic adventure. Come see for yourself, and I’m sure you’ll have a difficult time keeping this place a secret!

Just a Step Away is absolutely our favorite cabin rental to date. Perfectly peaceful and secluded. Our favorite spot is listening to the running water from the creek on the screened in back porch. Always clean and stocked with with everything you need, plus some extras like spices and the ketchup I forgot to pack, lol.
Highly recommend for all ages. If you have a senior that cannot make it up the many steps to the front entry, send someone around to the back and problem solved.
Very hard to leave this gem in the woods and we will be back for a third time as soon as we are able!
The cabin had everything you could possibly need and more. It was very secluded, easy access, and what we loved the most is how welcoming the host were with Pets. They were also very responsive and friendly
Pleasantly remote. We didn’t see a human or an automobile for three days! The property is remarkably well equipped. We brought things we thought we would need… it was already there. After a few days of relaxation we ventured out and visited Ellijay and Blue Ridge. We loved our stay!
Quiet, secluded, spacious (yet cozy) —this cabin is the perfect getaway for those needing solitude and a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Extremely well stocked, we had everything we needed and more. Very, very guest friendly.
Our stay was excellent. The host made our visit feel like home the location is wonderful if you’re looking for a peaceful adventure. I highly recommend this home to stay in for your next tranquil getaway. Donna N.
A peaceful setting inside the woods yet not detached from other cabins and close enough to shopping and restaurants. The fireplace, hot tub, babbling brook and fire pit add to the relaxation and adventure to this wonderful place
This was a lovely cabin to stay at for our very first Thanksgiving away from home. We are a family of 4 with two teenage boys. It was spacious and had plenty of board games for family fun after returning to cabin from exploring Downtown Blue Ridge and McCaysville. It was a perfect Thanksgiving and just what we were looking for! We will definitely be staying here again.
This is just an awesome place to rest, relax and unwind. Quiet and peaceful with the creek at the back of the property. Beautiful and clean cabin with a great host. Highly recommend
I surprised my fiance with a stay here over Valentine’s Day weekend. Couldn’t have been more pleased with the decision. From the sound of the trout stream to the hot tub we were relaxed from the beginning. So much to enjoy or kick back and enjoy the fire. This won’t be the last visit for sure!
We love this cabin! It is clean, comfortable, and well-apointed. My wife and I spend a long weekend here every January. It is quiet and off the beaten path, which is exactly what we're looking for. The seclusion is wonderful. The hot tub is a wonderful bonus for a nice, relaxing soak. And, the owners are easy to work with and quite responsive. Highly recommended! 7 out of 5 stars!
Great property to spend a couple days away. My youngest son loved the creek and just roaming around on the property. Plenty of space for everyone. The whole family loved using the hot tub.

The cabin was secluded, very private and clean. The cabin was well stocked with anything you could possibly want. Very nice
Everything was wonderful. We enjoyed the peacefulness of the woods and surrounding creek. The cabin was the best stocked we have ever stayed in, was very clean, and the beds were comfortable. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us!
The house was even cuter than the pictures! You can even hear the stream from the house. The kids loved walking down to the creek. If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet escape, this is the place for you!
We enjoyed hiking and restaurants in Ellijay. The owners are friendly and quick to respond. The house is very well stocked. I would recommend this property.
What a wonderful hidden gem. We fell asleep to the sounds of the babbling stream. Our kids loved the hot tub. It was less than 30 min to I credible hiking. The owner is super accommodating too!
Gorgeous cabin but very remote down gravel roads. A bit scary to arrive at night in the dark but owner had cabin set up to be very welcoming with well placed lights. Decorated so perfectly. Great hot tub! However, no internet.
This was our fourth stay at this property, and it never disappoints. clean, quiet, comfortable; spacious kitchen with everything you could possibly need. Eric is always accessible, firendly and helpful. This is our 'go-to' getaway. we'll be back!
