Viking Cottages and Apartments
3.5 star property
9.8 out of 10, Exceptional, (62)
"My wife and I stayed here for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed the place, the view of the mountains and the fjord/town of Akureyri, and the spectacular show that we got from the northern lights on one of our nights there. We saw the lights on two of the four nights, and of course, there's never a guarantee. But on the night that we had a mostly clear sky, the show was spectacular. If you visit in the winter and get lucky, it's a beautiful spot to see the lights overheard from outside both the...

10.0 out of 10, Exceptional, (31)
"We were impressed from the moment we entered the property. It was clean, well stocked with amenities for our stay and extremely spacious for our family. For me personally the hot tub was the highlight of the stay and sitting outside in a warm tub under the wintery night sky was just magical. The only thing to note, and nothing to do with the property but there is a toll on the tunnel through the mountain on the fastest way to the close town of akureyri at 1800ISK per way."

Laxardalur Cabin
3.0 star property

"Clean modern cabin in an isolated setting yet close enough to Husavik and Myvatn lake. I have an interest in farming and tending animals in the unique setting of iceland. The owners went out of their way to answer all my questions about their sheep farm, the cost of energy, and more. Very welcoming and friendly people. "

Svartaborg
3.5 star property
10.0 out of 10, Exceptional, (35)
"This was one of the most anticipated stops along our road trip. We were only able to stay one night due to availability but we would have loved to stay longer. The place was very quiet, peaceful and romantic. The space was mindfully designed and very visually appealing. I can tell the owner out a lot of thought into the interior design. The heated floors + heated towel rack made the place even more cozy. We enjoyed the stars in the jacuzzi but unfortunately didn’t see the northern lights...

Aska Modern Cabin
3.0 star property
8.4 out of 10, Very good, (13)
"Wonderful cabin! This cabin is so cute and well designed. Also the staff are very kind and helpful. It’s in a campground as other reviewers have noted, but the cabin is in a very quiet spot, it felt private to us! We were unaware that the Myvatn area is known for its many flying midges and unfortunately the cabin didn’t have screens to keep them out! We would have loved to bring in some fresh air and sit outside on the cabin’s deck!"

Akureyri Log Cabin
3.5 star property
10.0 out of 10, Exceptional, (9)
"This cabin was the best. The views were amazing, the upstairs was cozy, and there was enough space for my family of three to stretch out and feel comfortable. It's out of the way enough that we felt like we were in our own space, but not too far away from Akureyri. Even though we spent two nights in this cabin almost a year ago, my husband and I still talk about how we wish we could return to Iceland and spend a week in this cabin. "

"This is a modern and lovely place. Don’t be alarmed that hot tub is empty when you arrive. A switch turns it on and it fills up in about an hour. It’s lovely. No sulfur smell. We witnessed our first northern lights at this cabin so it will be memorable for sure. Heated bathroom floors are a nice touch. Would highly recommend. "

Akureyri Log Cottage
3.5 star property
9.2 out of 10, Wonderful, (5)
"It was ‘not to bad’ overall except that there are too many flies in the house, I would attribute this to the season. Clean but quite a cold house to stay in, strong wind from the mountain behind it penetrates the logs and I feel the heating is not efficient and sufficient so it felt cold for a visitor coming from tropical countries. Overall was good, also I would advise host to have more ‘user guide’ friendly to guests, probably instructions and information of the house, as only the owner would...

"Very warm welcome on reception and at the bar. Immediately felt very relaxed after a 270 mile trip from the south of Iceland which whilst stunning, is an epic journey. Bedroom very comfortable and good shower amenities although shower curtains a little bit strange in the shower enclosures. Coffee pod machine was very well stocked with supplies and nice big cups, but, to get them to fit I had to remove the drip tray. No big deal. Breakfast was excellent with some hot options too and a very...
