«Hüsli» by Interhome

You can expect a typical Appenzell wooden house with low ceilings, which is about 300 years old. It is in a secluded location (2 other houses in the immediate neighbourhood). The house is surrounded by meadows, woods and hills. The Hüsli is about 10 minutes by car from Rohrschach and Heiden. St. Gallen is about 20 minutes away by car. To Säntis approx. 1 hour by car. The path (a private road) past the house leads to Heiden on one side (approx. 20-30 minutes' walk) and to Rohrschach on the other (approx. 40-50 minutes' walk). A station of the "Heidenbähnli" in Schwendi can be reached in about 15 minutes on foot. From there you can get to Heiden or Rohrschach. In the Hüsli there is a double bed, two single beds and a sofa bed for 2 people. A travel cot can be provided. The house is fully furnished. Heating is provided in the basement with a tiled stove and an additional cooker. The living rooms and bathroom can be heated electrically if required. There is a barbecue, table, chairs and parasol in the garden.

Other sports and leisure activities: Electric biking, hiking, Nordic walking, mountain bike tours, swimming, (mini)golf: the Appenzellerland offers a wide range of possibilities for varied holidays. Culturally, there are various interesting museums and cheese dairies to choose from. In winter, tranquillity is the order of the day instead of exhilarating après-ski. Various toboggan runs, friendly little ski areas and cross-country skiing centres guarantee real winter fun. Those looking for relaxation will find what they are looking for at the Herisau sports centre or the Unterrechstein spa. Not forgetting all the cosy (mountain) restaurants serving Appenzell specialities. Various events with lots of traditional customs round off the offer.

Excursion possibilities: In addition to the Appenzellerland itself, there is much to discover in Eastern Switzerland: the city of St. Gallen with its UNESCO World Heritage Site, Walter Zoo in Gossau, Säntispark in Abtwil, a boat trip on Lake Constance, the city of Vaduz with the Citytrain or the Toggenburg holiday region with the Sound Trail.

Location description: The Fünfländerblick vantage point is located above Grub at 931 metres above sea level. As the name suggests, five regions can be seen. Vorarlberg, Bavaria, Baden, Württemberg and, of course, Switzerland. Since April 2019, the two villages of Grub AR and Grub SG have been reconnected by an attractive 180-metre-long suspension bridge over the Mattenbach stream. A very popular hiking trail across the cantonal border from Frauenrüti Grub AR to the Grünau Grub SG area is now accessible again.
