Albie's cottage: Cute secluded timber home on a bush block by the sea
8/10 Good
"Quiet and secluded cottage. You will need to park your car at the bottom of the driveway and walk uphill a short distance. Short stairs up to the front decking are slippery in the wet. Upstairs small patio has a nice view of the bay and mountain. We felt a bit disappointed with the general cleanliness, lots of old cobwebs. The shower had a dried up used flannel hanging on the tap and the shower base had dust / dirt. Definitely needed a vacuum clean throughout the whole place.Glasses and other crockery sitting up on the shelf were greasy and dusty, some cooking items in the cupboard, under the sink were dusty/ dirty. We ended up washing everything we needed to use first in the kitchen. There was a lot of other personal items left in the laundry area. (hair /skin products etc. (I guess left over from previous tenants). The soap holder for hand washing was caked in old stained dried soap had an old yellow grimy piece of soap on it. We left that alone! However the bedding and towels were clean and fresh.Plenty of room, the heater worked well.Phone reception only Telstra. No WiFi but they have plenty of CD's for background music if you like their style! It's the quiet end of Flinders which is lovely. Short walk to the beach and fossicking. Lots of wallabies and wombats to see as you walk to the beach."
"Great location located on waterfront. We had the small shack - not a lot of room in main bedroom. Good coffee machine & basic cooking items provided."
A private rural cottage close to beaches and Whitemark township
10/10 Excellent
"We had a fabulous stay at this spacious, fully equipped home, which is located close to Whitemark and still out in a rural setting. The home was immaculately clean. With the windows open, we were entertained by a myriad of bird calls. With no lights around, star gazing was amazing. Although none of these negatively affected our stay at all, it’s helpful to know: on Sundays none of the stores and very few restaurants are open (Joanna stocked our fridge so we could have breakfast Monday morning); there’s no WiFi at the home; and the tap water needs to be boiled for a minute before drinking. We would love to be able to stay here again. "
