Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Egervolgy?
The best area to stay in Egervolgy is directly within the Egervolgy Castle complex or very close by in the immediate village surroundings.

Egervolgy itself is a small, tranquil village, and the castle is its undisputed centrepiece. Staying within the castle grounds means you're literally steps away from its historic architecture, well-kept gardens, and any on-site amenities. The castle is situated on a gentle rise, offering pleasant views of the surrounding countryside. The village roads are generally quiet and lead directly to the castle gates.

Couples seeking a romantic and peaceful getaway will find staying at the castle particularly appealing. The historic setting provides a unique backdrop for a relaxing holiday, with opportunities for quiet strolls through the grounds and enjoying the local Hungarian cuisine often served within the castle's facilities. It's a place for unwinding and enjoying each other's company in a beautiful, historic environment.

Families looking for a calm and distinctive experience will also appreciate the castle and its surroundings. The open spaces around the castle offer room for children to play, and the historic nature of the site can be an interesting educational experience.
When is the best time to go to Egervolgy?
The best time to visit Egervölgy, Vas County, Hungary, is during the late spring (May-June) and early autumn (September-October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

During late spring, the countryside is lush and green, and temperatures are comfortably mild, typically ranging from 18-25°C. This period is ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the region, including the nearby Kőszeg Mountains, where you can enjoy hiking and cycling without the intense heat of mid-summer. It's also a wonderful time for couples to enjoy romantic strolls through the vineyards and charming villages.

Early autumn offers similarly agreeable temperatures, usually between 15-22°C, and the landscape transforms with the rich colours of the harvest season. This is a particularly good time for those interested in local culture and gastronomy, as many wine festivals and harvest celebrations take place.
