Worst experience
We arrived at the apartment and as per the instructions got the keys from the safe. When we entered the room it had not been cleaned from the previous guest. We contacted Phil and he said that there was nothing that he could do at this place as the maid hadn't been able to come through to clean. He did relocate us to a new accommodation not far from the place we were meant to stay. It was much appreciated however we had to make do. The place we were relocated to was very small, had no kitchen facilities and did not include breakfast. Yes we lost out and felt cheated out of especially precious time. The bathroom was filthy, the bed was not made. No fresh towels and linen and dirt in the room. The pictures reflect what we arrived to. I was promised a refund but this hasn't happened.

We had a good time staying at My Edinburgh Life. Most of my questions were answered on the webpage, but I had to search a bit to find them out. One item was luggage storage (not large, and it looks like some guests use it to store extra items that they do not have room for. In addition, there is no refrigerators in the room in building 13, so just be aware. Make sure that you take a look at what is offered, and ask questions before you book. The property is in the Haymarket area, about 1 mile walk from the Royal Mile. What I liked about it, was that I could enjoy the Royal Mile area during the day, and at night get to a quieter section where I could enjoy a nice dinner or a wee dram at one of the local pubs. What I was a little disappointed about was that there was no interaction with the staff when I got ther, just by email, but they are responsive. The reason for this is that they like to let people enjoy their stay. While they did have some information on Edinburgh, it would be nice to possibly have the following information in each guest room - shopping (to get forgotten items), restaurants, pubs.

I was late getting to the property but they had a great system of key boxes for letting myself in. Perfect location and lovely clean room. Was out early the next morning but perfect for my needs

Location was good. No Wifi in room, tv was losing connection. There was no continental breakfast put out the Sunday morning, had to buy coffee and sandwich across the street (£7.50). Strong odor from the toilet. Very expensive parking unless you walked 20 minutes. Window blinds falling apart. Noisy.

Very well situated beside Haymarket Railway Station for access on foot to Edinburgh centre. Was booked as a hotel, turned out to be more like a multi unit AirBnB. All keys held in key boxes at the doorways, no reception desk, all information about your stay dealt with by e-mail and text. I stayed on two separate nights few days apart. First room was compact with an en-suite, which for a one night stay was okay. Carpet has some stains and had a broken roman blind at the window. The second night, a different room, which had a separate private shower room, not an en-suite! This was awkward, as I thought I had booked rooms with en-suites. It was a basement room and had a slight musty smell. There was a fridge, microwave and kettle in this room. Continental breakfast options were good. They have a store room to accommodate bag storage if you arrive early before the 2pm check in time (Although it's at basement level, accessed from the street, so it might be problematic if you have a large suitcase)

Just what I was looking for
This is an older property that has been converted to a a guest house. My room (for a single person) was small but clean and had everything I needed. The management offered generous buffet at breakfast (the coffee was actuall good!) The location was great! Just steps from a train station, tram stop, bus stop and taxi stand. Lots of food and pub options close by.

This isn’t a hotel. It’s a hostel. It’s noisy and small. Don’t bother staying here. You’d be better to find an air bnb.

Location was nice. For a self-check in/check out set up this property has, the one in charge was not very accessible. The room had no bath. The WiFi was non-existent and was not rectified where the WiFi for me was one of my main requirements. No apology for this from person in charge. Room was good size but it was noisy from above (like a motor). Bed was decent but probably had bugs as i woke up with a few bite marks. Water was excellent but toilet flush was tricky to work.

My room was absolutely adorable and plenty spacious enough for just myself, but there were a few bugs in my room, and what looked like mold on the ceiling. I was never given a code for the front door so couldnt get in and i sent 4 messages to the hotel asking for help and they took 24 hrs to answer me. Thank goodness someone staying there was nice eniugh to text the manager for me and get my code for the door. Not sure i would stay here again.

The milk, juice and serviettes at breakfast are constantly replenished, however coming at a particular time you may find there is not enough of either of the above, and though it becomes available 15 minutes later, your breakfast is already finished. There are several Wi-Fi systems in this big building, and although Wi-Fi works nicely on a landing, in the rooms different Wi-Fi networks are available for which no password is provided.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at My Edinburgh Life. It is in a great location across the road from the Haymarket station so an easy trip into the city or a 30 min walk. Our room was clean & comfortable & we made use of the living room down stairs where the wi fi worked much better.

We really would like to thank Phil for being very nice and responsive. However, being Asians, we get the hint when we're not supposed to ask for more. Only one key was provided which made it slightly difficult for us 3 to separate but we managed. Unfortunately, the room was not as comfortable as we would like in terms of size, we expected it to be bigger. The bathroom was extremely small, but it was clean, of which we highly appreciate. We were very glad the heater was working and my parents had a comfortable sleep. The laundry facilities were not really usable and Phil told us it was mainly for longer-term staying guests, so in the end, we did not get to do our laundry. However, the breakfast provided was very good, my parents enjoyed them a lot. The distance to the city was about GBP 6-7 using Uber, which I find that was alright. Overall, I felt it was a below average stay for the price we paid and note that this is not a hotel. However, I do find the room size too small for 3 persons, and that considering we had little to no help with our luggages, going up and down the stairs were very tiring for my old parents. So please do not book this place or just request for ground floor rooms if you're booking for elderly peopl :)

The house was really cute and kept nice and clean. The bathroom was completely renovated but the room needed to be renovated or at least painted, as we could see leaking from the ceiling and the desk was very rough. But overall we really liked our stay. Located super close from the city center (10 min walk), and in a very calm area of haymarket. The breakfast was fine, but if you're vegan there's not that much choice, but enough to keep you satisfied. Internet access in the room was very very poor. They need to improve that. The lady that took care of the house was really nice, and always ready to help.

Pleasant stay
Clean and nice place for family to stay in. Though we have to take the stairs down to the underground, the place is nice and quiet. Location is quite near to the town and Waverley station. There is a convenient shop nearby and you can use the oven to heat up your food. Breakfast choices are limited and you have to go early if not the food will run out. Overall pleasant stay there.
