About this property
Dean Path [400] is a Quiet and lovely apartment by the Water of Leith at Dean Village
Dean Village apartment is situated in the heart of Edinburgh’s historic Dean Village, a peaceful retreat on the Waters of Leith, only a few minutes’ walk from the west end of Princes Street. Dean Village was the centre of the milling industry from the middle ages and this beautiful apartment is part of Westmills an old mill redeveloped as housing in the 1970s. The area is very picturesque and its peaceful green and leafy ambience belies its proximity to the city centre. There is easy access to the Waters of Leith walk way from the village which leads you along by the river on a scenic walk towards the Royal Botanical gardens and Leith in one direction and to the museum of Modern Art and the Dean Gallery in the other. On a more practical note there is a food shop selling basic food supplies, a very good bakery and a good selection of restaurants and bars all within a short walk of the apartment.
The property is on the second floor of the block which benefits from lift service. The front door to the apartment opens into a long hall way off which all rooms are accessed. The large comfortable living room has three windows all offering stunning views over the waters of Leith, the room is furnished with a big corner sofa providing plenty of seating for 4 people. There is a TV with DVD player and free WiFi for the use of visitors. At the other end of the living room a dining table with 4 chairs provides a good space to work as well as to enjoy a home cooked meal prepared in the apartment. The kitchen is next door and can be screened off with a sliding glass door if required. This room also has a large kitchen table with seating for 4 guests; it is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine, toaster and kettle as well as plenty of china, glass, cutlery and cookware.
The light and airy Master bedroom is furnished with a king sized double bed with 2 bedside tables and lamps; it has a large built in wardrobe providing plenty of storage space.
A second good sized twin room with 2 single beds also with bedside tables and lamps has another large built in wardrobe which again provides ample storage space.
The generously proportioned family bathroom has a bath with shower over, basin and WC and plenty of hanging rails for towels etc.
We can accept one well behaved dog in the property at a charge of £35, you can add your dog during the booking process just before you submit payment. The apartment is wheelchair accessible, but the bathroom has not been specially adapted for guests with mobility issues.
In warmer weather guests will appreciate the shared garden overlooking the weir. Access to the garden is through the basement area of the building.

The appartment was located on beautifull spot of Dean Village. It was a pleassant stay and met our expectations exactly. It was an excellent base to explore the city of Edingburgh because everything was within walking distance.
A great place for 3 of us to stay, a quick walk to the Main Street and next to beautiful views right outside the place. Would stay again!

Loved our recent week at this lovely place.
Beds were super comfy after a day exploring Edinburgh.
Beautiful spot and walking distance into Stockbridge and Edinburgh centre.
Will definitely be back.
The place was a clean, well stocked, and comfortable. The property was a great location with easy walking distance to the tourist destinations in Edinburgh and Dean is a beautiful and quiet place, with lovely walks nearby.
This property is not fancy but very clean, roomy enough for 4 adults and has a nice kitchen set up. It is within walking distance to anything you might want to do while in Edinburgh. The host was very responsive to our questions and instructions to access the property were well described. The area itself is very quaint, quiet and historically significant. We would definitely stay again.

The river walk was amazing. Great diversity in animals and beautiful scenery. It felt as if Edinburgh was far away, not a walkable distance. A fun non touristy activity we greatly enjoyed.

Great Location, but the flat needs work
We loved being able to stay in beautiful Dean Village with the great old buildings and close proximity to the city centre. This could be a top-notch VRBO if the owners modernized the furnishings (it feels like a miss-matched granny’s apartment) and fixed the ventilation issues (constant weird smells and mold around the windows are troubling). I would not recommend this property to anyone until it has been renovated.
Leith Village is a cracking location (if you don't need a car!).
Apartment positives:
Spacious
2 bedrooms
Lift
Walking distance to many places
Good facilities for cooking and laundry
Warm & cosy
Negatives:
Communal spaces have a very bad smell, bad impression initially
Apartment is a mish-mash of old/modern furniture. 3 bar stools in the kitchen and no breakfast bar! It's like it's been used to dump the family's unwanted furniture!
Overall, this place ticked a lot of boxes for us but could be SO MUCH BETTER for not a lot of expense
Overallthe flat was dirty filled with old unwanted furniture & pictures. Lounge sofa tired dirty & never been cleaned behind. Table lamp dangerous. All pictures & tops of door frames thick dust.Double bedroom cobwebs behind furniture & broken glass in bed draw.Single bedroom cobwebs, paper lifting from window recess. Bathroom grouting dirty around the bath & basin dirty also shower head. Kitchen best room in the flat, why 3 bar stools & a bowl full of rags under the sink. Cleaning products should be locked away access to adults dangerous to children. On the positive plenty of hot water & the shower was good, all appliances in the kitchen in good working order. Beautiful setting & views, a delight to hear running water flowing down stream. Much room for improvement, it could be a stunning flat.
Wonderful location in ratio to the city of Edinburgh, beautiful views from the windows. We enjoyed the flat and all of the amenities. I recommend checking out the back yard and the waterfall. Just gorgeous. Thank you again!
We didn't realize how charming this little neighborhood would be. The apartment building was a converted old stone mill surrounded by other old buildings on the river Lieth. The apartment itself was spacious and had everything we needed for our week-long stay. We hope to be able to stay there again when we come back to Edinburgh.
Great walk to the flat along the water of Leith from Stockbridge. Lovely quiet spot with sounds of the water running past. Easy to walk to Botanic Gardens, National gallery of modern art and other city sights . Plenty of room in lounge and kitchen- well equipped. Nice to have bath and shower. Everything we needed.
Lovely area about 15mins from centre. Check in very easy. The place was lovely, clean and tidy. We were a family of four 2 adults plus 23 and 19 yr old with plenty of space for all of us. Would have been 5 stars but the place is in need of some updating, especially bathroom and kitchen. This didn't detract from our stay though and would reccomend if you're using as a base to explore.Tip:- there is no onsite parking but I found really cheap parking at the Waitrose less than 10min walk away for 8 a day on yourparkingspace, com
The location is excellent and it was nice and quiet, but the accommodations really needs updating. The carpeting is worn, there were mold spots starting on the bathroom ceiling, and everyone who has allergies were miserable any time we were in the room. We ended up leaving a day early because we couldn't handle a 4th night there. If you don't have allergies, you may be fine staying here, and the location is fantastic. Princes Street Gardens is only a 10-minute walk.
Dean Village is steeped in history so it was lovely to walk around. The place was pretty sparse for a weeklong stay We asked for more toilet paper and other paper products (towels and Kleenex) and they wouldn’t provide. Disappointing as we weren’t there long enough to warrant buying them.
Check in wasn’t hard except directions to the actual apartment weren’t clear. I needed a local person show me where it was.
The Dean Village was absolutely beautiful and the flat well situated. The flat itself needs some work though. The drains need to flow clearly, and it could have been cleaner. There was a very strong smell of cigarettes from the neighbours flat which was really off putting plus a smell in the hall as if trying to mask the smell of cigarettes.
