Cowboy retreat we spent 2 days here and loved the cabin the area the wrangler for all his h

Did an upgrade to cowboy retreat and it was well worth it. The cabin was beautiful and roomy and comfortable. S’mores at the fire pit were so good. Ed was a great host. Showed us around and made us feel we never wanted to leave. Could have stayed there forever

Great place to stay

We were comfortable and enjoyed the peace of the country. We loved the horses and steer/cows/calves. The owner was helpful.

Amazing stay!

my husband and I came for our 1 year anniversary and it was perfect! Quiet, cozy and perfect! Views were amazing! Feeding the animals was a lot of fun! Ed was a great host! We will be coming back!

Nice, quiet spot

We enjoyed out stay. We had everything we needed and the host was helpful. It's close to Prarie Du Chien. Very peaceful spot out in the country.

Bucolic bliss (but with WiF) ☺️

Absolutely beautiful, quiet farm location. Lodgings are scrupulously clean and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was bigger than my bedroom! Lovely host gave us a quick tour of the property, and we met a 2-week old filly. We will stay here again!

Family farm visit

The location was perfect for us. The size perfect as well. The hodt brought his new baby horse to show us. Baby was 30 days old! So precious!

Fantastic digs

Easy check-in. Great caretaker. Super quiet. 4 stars because furniture/mattress could use an update. Did not get a chance to experience the property but the views were great.

Weekend getaway

The suite was exactly how explained and looked in the pictures. The jacuzzi was AMAZING. Ed was very nice and helpful with helping us get my car unstuck. Will return again. Thank you so much !!

Home away from home

We took an extended weekend away for our anniversary. We were looking for something quiet and relaxing, and that is exactly what we got. From the moment we got there we felt extremely welcomed. Ed was the best host we have had at a VRBO yet! He was determined to make sure we took advantage of all he had to offer on the ranch! We will definitely be back, with friends this time!

We had a marvelous time at Cody’s Ranch! It was beautiful. Very comfortable! Cute decor! Nice place! Our host was terrific! Enjoyed meeting him very much! The whole stay was just so much fun! Girls weekend trip

Our stay was more than we hoped for. We relaxed in the studio, read, watched TV, used the amazing tub. We also took full advantage of Cowboy Cody’s offer to take us on an ATV ride, a tour of the property, horse riding lessons, and shooting. He treated us like family, and we are so grateful for his generosity. Our weekend was lovely, and his property is beautiful.

City Escape

Loved the ranch property! Stay was great! We were greeted by Mr. Cody and his three sweet dogs. They made our stay very enjoyable with horseback lesson, gun shooting and an ATV ride. Fed hot rod the horse apples by hand. Most gentle horse I’ve ever been with. Super fun time.

A Rural Stay in the Driftless

The tub and shower are incredible, the view is lovely, and the kitchenette was great for two people cooking a handful of meals. Reliable wifi, a large tv with streaming channels, and a comfortable bed (studio apartment style in the same room as the kitchen and living room). You do share walls with the owner and the other suite is downstairs, so if you're sensitive to sounds/smells be aware. Very friendly owner.

Fantastic spot to get away from city life!

We had the best time here! Drove here from Chicago for a weekend and had so much fun touring the property & riding horses. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. The property manager Denise & her father Ed were so awesome and communicative, we had a great time. Nearby there are some fun parks to go to & we drove to Iowa and went hiking. There’s also small bars and restaurants in the area but we weren’t a huge fan of those options, so we had brought food & there are a few kitchen appliances that you can use which is so helpful. It was such a fun & relaxing time & if I ever get the chance to come back, I will!

Ed gave us a great tour of the farm with a lot of interesting stories. He asked that I send him a picture of the foal but didn't get a cell number or email. If Ed still wants a picture, let me know.

Very Beautiful and Relaxing Stay

My wife and I were overdue for a vacation and this place (Cody's Ranch) was perfect!! Ed Cody is a fantastic, helpful and very accommodating host. It was a beautiful room with a view of the rolling hills. We trailered our motorcycle up there and toured the backroads. We also stopped at local historical sites and points of interest. Ask Ed about activities and attractions, he's a wealth of knowledge of the area. Our only regret is that we were only there for two full days. We're already looking forward to going back next year, going to stay longer this time! Thanks again Ed and Denise.

Calm & Beautiful

We absolutely loved this property! Cody was so welcoming and provided us with everything we needed. I was a bit apprehensive at first that the listing is technically connected to his house but there was no reason to be uncomfortable at all. He was willing to be as involved or uninvolved as we wanted. We took a hike or two on the path by the cabin, rode Hot Rod the horse a little bit, cooked all our meals on the grill, and were able to relax in the massive bathtub each night. Truly the perfect getaway from the city life in Chicago. A wonderful experience and we plan on coming back in the future! Thanks for everything! :)

Sad getaway

We picked this place not fully reading the description so that was our fault, however the room was not at all sound proof, we could hear dogs barking until almost 11:30 at night and the room was attached directly to the living spaces of others. The room itself was very nice, but felt Like we were staying in a bedroom at our parents home. Just wish it was more secluded and private. We did not sleep well due to noises from others outside, dogs, and others on the other side of the wall. We ended up going home and not staying the second night. Again our fault for not reading more into it. Not at all secluded or for a couple getaway. More for a family getaway.

A little misleading

I wish they would have said on the listing that the room you are staying in has a door that will connect right to the living quarters of the gentleman who lives there. He's very nice and very friendly.. but i was not expecting to be hearing him and his dogs all night... including dogs barking at 6 am. Sure it's a working farm... but the noises seem to be coming from the room next to you.. not the farm working. Also, he explained how the heat works, but good luck... it was cold outside and we turned up the heater... and it did nothing. Very cold throughout the night. Positives! Property is beautiful. The gentleman who owns it is very nice and friendly. Very helpful. The tub and shower are fantastic and if i knew he wouldn't be heading every time i coughed funny, i would have really enjoyed it. Overall 3/5. Thank you for the stay! The offer of the drive around the property on your side by side was very nice! Thank you so much!
