"My wife and I spent a very pleasant week at Cygnet Cottage, using it as a base to explore the Northumberland Coast and local area.This particular accommodation is ideal for a couple. The living area is well furnished and comfortable. The kitchen equipment all worked fine and there was an adequate supply of crockery, cutlery, and tools. The bathroom was small but perfectly usable with a decent, electric, shower. Upstairs was the bedroom with good storage facilities and a comfortable double bed...

"At first a rather unassuming place along a very busy A1 main road, by a petrol station. Yet, once installed after a swift checkin with a very friendly member of staff, the view on the Northumberland countryside from the bedroom is nice and soothing, and the noise of traffic is absent. There are two options for a dinner, a café and a restaurant. The restaurant is the best for value. Quite a find. And did I mention the nice and helpful staff?"

"A room above a pub, we were two floors up so there were no issues with noise. Everywhere was clean and tidy. The bathroom is in need of a refresh, however the breakfast more than made up for it. Definitely more than adequate as a bed for the night, but less so a destination accommodation. It was perfect for our needs, as we were spending a day at Berwick. Free parking is always a bonus. The price was a true reflection of what we got. The restaurant next door (Milan) provided an excellent meal, though it possibly wouldn't make the Green Book in terms of hospitality. IYKYK."

"We loved this place. The room was cozy, clean, and quiet. We at dinner (which we planned when arrived) and did the breakfast in the morning. Nobody left hungry! The restaurant was downstairs and although they have a pub/bar, it closes at about 10 pm; we weren't able to get a drink after dinner due to the timing. We would definitely come back again."

"I confess that I was a bit disappointed when I first arrived - but the room was big and well appointed with an updated bathroom, and changed my tune., it’s walking distance to everything in town. It wasn’t hot inside during the heat wave, hurrah! The building itself is a bit shabby but the room was great. Very noisy at night so bring earplugs. We were lucky to get a parking spot in the street in front, but the train station car park is the backup. Breakfast was basic continental fare and kept us going."

Nice bedroom and shower room but approach to it was along a narrow corridor and up narrow back stairs. Good food at dinner but served by inexperienced staff. Nice breakfast was served in the bar as the dining room was full. Overall a very good experience but just cannot claim to be excellent."
