The COVID-19 outbreak may have changed the way we travel, but it hasn't done away with our eagerness for exploring. Here are some tips on how to cope with travel's new challenges:

• Before booking your flight, see if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your origin and destination. Get up-to-date information by reviewing government and airport websites.
• You're required to wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, even at screening checkpoints. Be prepared to lower your mask for ID purposes when asked by a TSA officer.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA employee. Instead, you should position the pass on the reader and then hold it up to allow the agent to visually inspect it.
• You can take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on baggage. You'll have to remove it for screening.
• Remove items from your pockets, like your wallet and phone, and put them in your carry-on rather than the bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• If you're planning to take food through security screening, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to touch your food container or carry-on bag for inspection.
