"The staff were very kind . My coworker and I stayed to the weekend. Breakfast is free and coffee and tea are served throughout the day. The room was moderately clean but I always travel with my own cleaning supplies to do a thorough cleaning. The rooms and hallways did wreak of weed which was an inconvenience as I am not a fan of the smell. Otherwise, everything was okay."

"Terrible experience. Southbank Hotel was under construction, after being bought out by Marriott. This was not disclosed to me by hotels.com or Marriot when I made reservation. When I say under construction, I don’t mean slight construction I mean, heavy construction, and total remodel. The carpets were filthy. The hotel was understaffed in the housekeeping department so if you wanted a refresh of your room or total clean, you had to ask for it at the front desk. We had to wait on towels two days. I would say the only decent place in the hotel was the bar lounge area. On our second night there at 1:30 in the morning the fire alarm goes off so evacuation was needed. The person at the front desk told us if the fire alarm goes off again don’t worry we have the engineer here to turn it off immediately. We were outside for almost an hour. He also told us that this had happened several times. Speaking of staff most were nice and tried to be accommodating. This by far is the worst experience we’ve had with a hotel and especially a Marriott hotel."

"I recommend this place if all you want is somewhere to lay your head. If you’re hoping for a relaxing or enjoyable stay, look elsewhere. Breakfast: Terrible. Powdery eggs and boiled breakfast sausage. They had decent cereals but ran out of milk. Cleanliness: The bathroom was clean. The carpets are disgusting. Amenities: pool was closed for repairs. Ice machine was broken. TV in room was broken and everything was blue. The only have shampoo and no conditioner available. So be sure and pack that. Booking: I booked a double room for two adults and a kiddo. Called the front desk to confirm after booking. This was important because we would be checking in late. We get there and it’s only a queen bed and they have no roll out beds or any other available rooms. Their “offer” to make amends was to cancel the reservation (at 10 pm) or waive the deposit (which we get back anyway). "
