Great spot for our Dumfries overnight - the restaurant on site was good and the staff were all very friendly. Lots of free parking available and in a nice area to take a walk after dinner.

Absolutely wonderful stay at Holiday Inn Dumfries. The hotel was perfect in every way from the room to the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff. I cannot fault anything about our stay so thank you so much.

Exceptional location, very quiet surroundings. Clearly did not have enough staff in the evening. For a long time in the evening there was one person doing the bar with several customers and having to waiter on about 10 tables

Comfy & Clean Room - pleasant stay

Lovely stay, the perfect accommodation for a wedding at The Crichton. A short taxi into Dumfries town centre, or could also walk it along footpaths.

Large comfortable room, good breakfast, some carpets around hotel could do with replacing. Set in the lovely surrounding of the Crichton grounds

It is set in beautiful gardens within the university which you can walk around and enjoy. Convenient location for touring the area. Room was big, spacious and clean. Breakfast was really good, there was plenty to choose from.

Lift not working. Rooms hot, no air conditioning. A small fan was in the cupboard but I was not aware of it until the morning. Bad night's sleep. Difficulty getting room key cards to work. Problem with billing. I had prepaid 2 rooms but had to pay for one room in check in as it was claimed only one room was paid for. How can this be when 2 rooms were reserved? Was told this morning that it has been fixed. I hope so, I will check my bank statement later. Shame, we have stayed here before and enjoyed it.

I was well received by receptionist, if I have to rate her it will be 5 stars , very warm friendly and easy to talk to personally , however the elevators was not working since my wife is disabled and our room was on the 1st floor,but the receptionist saved the day, I've been recommended by a friend to stay here and I will definitely recommend the holiday inn to my other friends . I will definitely be back.

No batteries in tv remote and staff refused to supply any. Heating in room not working. On the second night staying a random person was given a key to my room and walked while I was in bed. Awful hotel.

The hotel was overbooked, so I was outbooked to another hotel with quite lower standards a 12 min. drive away. I also got split up from my travelling companions. I heard that the same had happened for other guests as well. I asked for some kind of compensation, without success.

Our stay was only marred by three very minor issues: 1) there was no decent coffee available at breakfast as the coffee machine was broken. The alternative coffee was really not nice at all. 2) the bar didn’t start serving until 6pm and the selection of drinks on display seemed very limited. 3) the bedroom window locking mechanism was broken so it failed to close properly. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and we would definitely stay at the hotel in the future.

Expensive, but thats Dumfries

Far too expensive for type of hotel but given the shocking choices of hotels in Dumfries its average priced for there. Staff all very friendly and helpful, especially the very charming Nicky on front desk :) Cannot speak for all rooms but 222 has a definite bad smell from the air conditioning system, and there is no need at all for the heating to be full blast in the foyers between lift/stairs and doors to bedroom corridors. Clean and tidy and the cleaners do very well

The staff are doing there very very best,however we received a canteen buffet style evening meal due to staff shortage,not the advertised menu We expect the usual menu as advertised by the hotel and did not receive,surely IHG have an obligation to deliver there advert not rely on the existing staff to cover for the company not employing more people. Great stay but come on IHG chips and pie 2 nights on the trot is inadequate
