Lovely host and very helpful with booking onward journey to sierpe. Lovely surroundings and not too far from main town. Some confusion about the website we used to book the stay but otherwise no issues.
Wonderful quiet location surrounded by the jungle. The room was very comfortable and the shared amenities were a bit basic but clean. Fernando and his family went out of their way to help and he also does an expert day tour of the national park.

Not Impressed
Unimpressive property. We did not like the shared bathroom and shower facilities. Tucked down a hill in the jungle, it would have been nice to have an air conditioned room option.
Precio ubicación y limpieza perfecto, el lugar es muy lindo ya que la zona del hotel es como mucha naturaleza y es perfecto para pasar tiempo a solas con uno mismo .

maybe...
Generally a good value -- be prepared for a heavy push to sign up for activities and frankly, this/the overbooking ruined my stay- I felt like I couldn't relax on the property. It's a trek up a hill from town. I fell and hurt my foot one evening and was shocked -- no concern from manager/owner even though I feel like I was a good "tenant". I'd say .., maybe on this one if all other affordable options are sold out..
The owner, Lucy, went out of her way to suggest activities, give us a ride, make bookings for us, answer questions, etc. She is SO welcoming! She has 5 children in the USA and extensive friends around the world. The lodge has 5 cabins that are off the main road (very important because motorcycle and car traffic are streaming along the road past most of the other hostels). It's in a beautiful garden/jungle setting. There is a shared outdoor kitchen/hammock area that is perfect for getting to know other guests, who come from all over the world. The cabins are basic but fine: Fans did a good job of keeping us comfortable, shower water is unheated but very pleasant in this warm environment. Everything in town and down to the beach is within walking distance.
We discovered the dishes from previous could not have possibly been cleaned with soap as there was none for the dishes! Much disrespect from host, too.
No bank! You should bring several hundred dollars in cash as tours start around $80 USA per person. There is not much else to do other than tours! Drake Bay is a one gravel road place with about 3 grocery stores, and a handful of restaurants. They will except credit card but it is 13% charge AND we found out that they could charge as little as 8%! We even had an incident were we did have the cash but they insisted on using the card so they could charge more! You have to buy your water so plan accordingly!
We felt serious pressure to buy tours perhaps as everyone involved gets a cut! We did scuba diving and the nature hike, both very enjoyable!
This hotel is located away from the busy areas of town, but in about 10-15 min walking distance to the center. Its wooden cabins are surrounded by a beautiful garden, and you wake up to the singing of the birds. The greatest "benefit", however, is Lucy (or Lucia), the owner and manager of the place. She personally cares for all her guests and drives them to the various activities or picks them up, if necessary. (She drove me to the bus station to catch a bus at 4 am!) You can also cook your own food, and if desired, Lucy will make breakfast for you. Not all cabins have a private shower and bathroom, but at the end, that didn't matter. It was more than compensated by the friendly spirit of the place.
These are basic cabin with not luxury but the place and atmosphere are amazing. Who need the shower in the room or internet when you are surrounded in a natural paradise.
Lucia the owner who runs the place is extremely nice and helpful.
