This hotel was just perfect. Outstanding room, we were pleasantly surprised as didn’t expect it to be so perfect. Very friendly helpful staff, lovely facilities and sundries in the room. Can’t wait to come back.

It is a pleasure to read that you liked the rooms and found our hotel beautiful and the staff friendly, and it's great to know that our convenient location was a highlight of your visit. We do apologise for our staff's lack of clarity on the spa bookings and menu for the restaurant. We generally receive numerous compliments for our knowledgeable and efficient staff, so it's somewhat disappointing to hear that we fell short in this instance. Your voice is crucial to us, and rest assured that this critical feedback will be used to facilitate better guest experiences with the necessary training intervention for our staff. Regarding parking, we are located in a highly desirable area in Bournemouth; thus, parking can be tricky. Nonetheless, we provide a limited number of car parking spaces on the hotel grounds for the convenience of our guests. Unfortunately, due to limited parking in this area, almost all hotels charge a parking fee. That said, we constantly work to ensure that our parking fee is priced in line with other hotels in our area. Also, there is free parking between 5:00pm and 9:00am on the roads around the hotel. Despite this, it's great to know that you had a 5-star experience at our hotel, and we look forward to serving you again when you return to Bournemouth. We stayed here over Christmas and found the staff (especially reception) very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hotel is really nice and modern in communal areas and lacking in others but all in all very comfortable.

Clean and tidy
Room was clean and room bits like tea, Coffee and toiletries all great. We had a problem with our lock which took a while for someone to appear and then fix didn’t hold. Minor thing and it was late so wedged chair behind door. There was a function on in the hotel which we weren’t aware of and went on to midnight. No notification on booking or arrival. Sound proofing between function room and first floor rooms was non-existent. We had heard reception chatting amongst themselves saying they were trying not to put people in first floor but we were not given that option. Overall it’s not a bad hotel for the money. Parking as with most Bournemouth hotels sparse and staff in the whole were nice and helpful.

Got to classic double room and despite advertised no room safe or wardrobe and had to change. Then I had to ask reception to put the heating on as the room was freezing. My colleague had no remote control the whole weekend despite several mentions and promises from reception. Tired looking rooms around windows and carpet. My room didn’t get made up on the second day. On arriving at the hotel, we wanted to say hi to george the manager,but sadly he was way too busy to pop by,such a shame really because we actually wanted to do the whole week of xmas there and xmas lunch etc, with our family as i said if managment cant find just a few minutes to say hi ,its times like this that make you think ok his loss ,ill go elsewhere with my custom,afrer all we were going there before merecure took over,you should keep ur guests happy,especially when the receptionist keptcasking me shall i see if hes free today,in the end i was a bit sad and said no dont bother,again feeling unappreciated as a customer i felt like they do only care about you bringing the revenue in and not me as a person,i will go elsewhere for xmas and take all my family with me,hate fake people

Underwhelming and in need of a TLC
Polite and welcoming staff, but the room we were given initially was disgusting. Badly stained carpets, major damp issue and just looked run down and in need of renovation. We were offered a second room, which was marginally better but still in dire need of renovation. The bedding and towels were clean and comfortable and there was a large smart tv. Annoyingly the smart tv apps screen displayed an error and the bluetooth only connected for audio. The shower is also at a height only suited to small people. At 6'2" I had to crouch right down to wash. Our tablelamp was also non-functional. Our room was also noisy at points throughout the night. We could hear the drainage from neighbouring rooms and some rather loud boiler/pressure background hum aswell. As for the shared facilities: The pool was pleasant enough but the jacuzzi water smelt strongly of sweat. Not nice. We didn't dine or have breakfast.

Good location close to seafront. Stayed in several Mecure hotels across Europe. This one really lets the brand down in several areas. Dated overall, bad plumbing / heating. Mould in bathrooms. cleanliness of beds. Sound between rooms. Breakfast is awful (coffee is worst I've ever had) but they do have a paid espresso option. I could go on but doubt owners will do anything about it.

Very disappointed and would not return
The room was filthy. Big, substantial stains on the carpet, marks and chips out of the wall, chips out of the bath, suspicious brown stains on the bath panel next to the toilet as well as items of furniture with large stains on. The aircon machine was faulty and was buzzing and clicking all night which really disrupted our sleep. We emailed the hotel with pictures and details but 5 days later have received no reply. Absolutely not worth the £190 we paid to stay there.

Disappointing service at check in and throughout. No car parking spaces available. Boy on check in desk wasn’t helpful at all. Asked if there was a public car park near buy and he shrugged his shoulders and didn’t even answer. Luckily we found one literally round the corner 2 minutes walk. Room was dirty and unfinished. Not a hotel I would recommend when there are so many decent hotels in Bournemouth to choose from.

I wasn’t going to bother submitting a review but following issues with parking since our visit I feel it is necessary. My partner is disabled and so before booking we rang the hotel to confirm we’d get parking and they advised us to add this to the booking form which we did. When we arrived there was no reserved space. The wheelchair lift wasn’t working so my partner had to use the steps very gingerly. Luckily he wasn’t totally confined to a wheelchair or he wouldn’t have made it into the hotel. We arrived and paid for our stay and 48 hours parking as we knew we needed this due to his condition. We have just received a penalty notice for parking in the car park and now have the added stress of trying to resolve this which exacerbates my partner’s condition. The room was unclean and not made up to fit our family requirements. Our key cards repeatedly failed and we had to return to reception on no less than 4 occasions to get them reset which is hassle you don’t need when you’re disabled. Housekeeping were rude when we requested bedding for our daughter that should have been in the room ready for our stay. We had to go down to reception to ask for this as there was no hotel info or number indicating how you contacted reception in the room. On the plus side the swimming facilities were nice. Wouldn’t recommend and won’t be returning.

Hotel is in great location - Zigzag walk down to pleasant and quite beach just across the road (barbecue allowed from 6pm!). That’s the reason we stayed at Mercure twice. Last time was great. This time not so much. We stayed in Junior Suite - big room, plenty of space. But it is not sound proof at all - can hear every person coming and going. It’s a pet friendly place (if you got a pet it is fantastic). Unfortunately, we had a neighbour with pet (dog was left alone for couple of hours late evening and got very upset). Hotels always have problems with bathrooms. Mercure bathrooms are a bit outdated or not of good quality. Our bathroom even in Junior Suite was just too small and shower stopped draining on day 2. I think this can be resolved only by property owner not the staff. I popped into restaurant where breakfast was served - very basic full English. It is not worth paying for it (if not included).
