About this property

Waen Fechan

  • Tucked away in the heart of Snowdonia National Park, Waen Fechan is a characterful countryside escape that perfectly blends rustic charm with modern comfort. Hidden at the end of a one-mile gravel track through a protected RSPB SSSI oak woodland, this cottage offers peace, privacy, and breathtaking views of Cadair Idris — one of Wales’ most dramatic peaks. Waen Fechan welcomes up to 2 well behaved dogs during your stay.

On the ground floor, you’ll find an inviting open-plan living and dining area, complete with a log burner for warm evenings in. There is a fully equipped kitchen, providing everything you need for home-cooked meals after a day exploring Snowdonia. Upstairs, the second floor has two double bedrooms, one single room and a stylish bathroom featuring a freestanding bath, W/c, and sink.

Step outside into the garden, where you can gather around the firepit under a sky full of stars. The porch area is perfect for sitting back and soaking up the peace — or enjoying a refreshing moment in the outdoor shower. Waen Fechan also offers private parking and sits within the tranquil grounds of a working farm.

Located just minutes from the charming market town of Dolgellau, Waen Fechan is perfectly positioned to explore some of North Wales’ most beautiful attractions — from mountain trails and sandy beaches to lakes and waterfalls. Whether you’re venturing outdoors or settling in by the fire, this is a place where you can truly slow down, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and experience the magic of Snowdonia.

This property is the heart of the farm and a true haven for adventure-seekers. With its earthy charm and rustic character, it offers a genuine countryside escape for those who love nature and the simple, rugged beauty of rural life.

The heating system will automatically turn on twice a day (morning and evening). If you would like to light the wood burner for an extra feel of cosiness, we offer logs delivered straight to the door or left in the cottage throughout your stay with us.

Please Note: Access to the cottage is along a steep gravel track featuring a tight hairpin turn. A 4×4 vehicle is essential, particularly in winter conditions, as vans and standard cars will not be able to reach the property.

Fantastic, relaxing and beautiful surroundings.

Beautiful old cottage with an open fire and bathtub. Lovely relaxing stay in a Idyllic location up in the mountains with the most amazing views. We were glad that we had a 4x4 to drive up to the property, especially going in December. Good instructions/advice from the owners. Looking forward to going back again.
