About this property

Penclogwynau

  • Penclogwynau is a beautifully restored, detached 18th-century holiday cottage set in its own private, enclosed grounds on the lower slopes of Cadair Idris, just 1.5 miles from the historic market town of Dolgellau. Surrounded by spectacular mountain views, rolling fields, and peaceful woodlands, it offers a perfect retreat for those seeking tranquillity, comfort, and a deep connection to nature in the heart of Snowdonia National Park.

Blending rustic charm with modern convenience, the cottage features underfloor heating throughout the ground floor, a large inglenook fireplace with a log-burning stove, and many original details, including exposed beams and rafters. The open-plan living space includes a cosy lounge, a fully equipped country-style kitchen with a double Belfast sink, and a spacious dining area that opens onto a large patio through French doors—ideal for enjoying the stunning surroundings. A separate utility room and a luxurious wet room with a rain shower add to the practicality and comfort of the home.

Upstairs, the cottage has two characterful bedrooms with exposed beams and sweeping views of the surrounding hills and mountains. The master bedroom includes a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom, while the second bedroom can be arranged as a king or twin room. A second bathroom with a deep slipper bath and skylight completes the upstairs space, offering a relaxing spot to unwind.

The garden is a true highlight, with a multi-level lawn, a gentle stream, mature trees, and a choice of seating areas including a large picnic table, a bistro set, and an Indian firepit and grill. Whether you're enjoying a summer BBQ or stargazing under a clear night sky, the setting is peaceful and enchanting.

Penclogwynau is more than just a place to stay—it's a serene and scenic escape where you can slow down, explore Snowdonia's natural beauty, and enjoy the simple pleasures of countryside living. Although Penclogwynau allows up to 2 dogs during your stay, they are not allowed upstairs.

There is use of an EV Car Charger at the property.

Please note that the stairs inside the property are steep and narrow.
