  • My dad's friend owns a really cool karting circuit in Pageas, a few kilometres from Chalus where I grew up in France. They are both hunters. I know this is not everyone's cup of tea, but a lot of people from that generation in rural France do like hunting, fishing, fetching mushrooms. There are woodlands all around the karting circuit. My dad and his friend have built some platforms in the trees, and from mid-October to mid-November they go there every morning to shoot migrating birds. Those ones are some sort of wood pigeons going from Eastern Europe / Russia to North Africa. I did my own shooting that morning... with my camera! The sunrise was spectacular with some nice pink colours and mist in the valley.

Idillic setting

Stunning castle and grounds, nicely appointed with very traditional furnishings. Well maintained. Grégoire, his wife and family were gracious hosts - we felt most welcome during our week-long stay. We stayed in the old block and small tower, away from the main tower. Some may find the accommodation a bit spooky, we did, but after the first night we found it added to the adventure. The pool was very pleasant, around 27 or 28degrees so perfect temperature. In the immediate surrounding area there’s not too much to do with a young family, so we did a fair bit of driving. Would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break immersed in history in a very special setting.

fabulous chateau with amazing grounds

Property had so much character, lots of little places to discover, like the chapel and tower. The pool was great and the fact we had the whole place to ourselves was amazing. Thank you for your welcome, it was a pleasure to meet you and we hope to come back again sometime in the future.

L’endroit est magnifique à la campagne dans un beau parc parfaitement entretenu. L’accueil des gardiens est très chaleureux et nous avons passé un agréable séjour. La piscine est parfaitement tenue.

Grosse déception

Personne à notre arrivée. Installation dans une tour qui paraissait inhabitée. Nous avions réservé deux chambres. La première au rez de chaussée était dotée d'un lit de 140cm, alors que on nous annonçait des king size. Du linge de lit(draps fleuris, et couverture bleue) datant des années 70!!! Une salle de bain où vous n'avez pas envie d' entrer : meuble sous lavabo tout délabré, porte décrochée, chaise paillée pourrie, de l' eau qui suinte, et une baignoire sur pied. Des toiles d'araignées à tous les coins de murs ou de meuble!! Ne parlons pas de l' oubli de sèche-cheveux. Une fois installés, on nous annonce que nous ne pourrons malheureusement pas profiter de la piscine... elle est verte... problème technique.... Heureusement la deuxième chambre était correcte. Le petit-déjeuner servi dans la tour me laissait présager du pire : une cafetière et une bouilloire (ni propre ni sale) posées sur une table poussiéreuse m' avait interpellé. Un petit déjeuner digne d'un hôtel premier prix : croissant, pain décongelé, petits ramequins de confiture et un viennois à la vanille.!!ouah Un souvenir inoubliable

Vacances idylliques!

Nous avons passé des vacances très agréables dans ce gite: il est spacieux et très confortable. Le jardin est très grand et très bien entretenu, ce qui a permis aux enfants de rester dehors pour profiter de la piscine et des balançoires. Les propriétaires sont en plus très sympas. A recommander!

Idéal avec enfants

Ce gite est idéal pour ceux qui ont envie de passer un moment au calme, dans une maison pleine de charme et d'histoire. Le confort est celui d'une maison de vacances (équipement minimal mais suffisant). Nos enfants ont vraiment aimé passer du temps dans le parc et la forêt qui ont été pour eux un grand terrain de jeu. Toute la famille a apprécié le confort de la piscine. Les propriétaire sont à la fois très agréables, disponibles et discrets. C'est un endroit où l'on se sent bien et où on a envie de revenir Je conseille cette location aux familles en quête de vacances romantiques
