"Heel groot gezellig huis, met grote woonkamer en eetkamer, grote slaapkamers met elk een badkamer. We hebben genoten van dit weekendje met de kinderen en kleinkinderen, die vooral de trampoline en het beekje leuk vonden. De gastvrouw was heel vriendelijk."

It was just the right distance for us to explore the forts and bunkers around Verdun. The gite itself, had everything we needed including a wood burning fire. Annie was lovely and made us a quiche, which was the best I have eaten. If we go back to this region again, we will defiantly be booking Chez Mathilde again."

"Wir haben uns in diesem Haus sehr wohl gefühlt. Es ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet. Mit einem schönen Ofen (und vorhandenem Holz) ist es noch gemütlicher. Der Garten ist komplett umzäunt und für Hunde ideal. Es war alles sehr sauber, geräumig und fehlte an keiner Ausstattung. Mit dem Hund konnte man eine schöne Runde über Felder und durch das kleine Dorf mit Kirche drehen. Für den EK und zur Besichtigung anderer Städte ist ein Auto notwendig."

"The hostess and her charming house were full of character. We loved her personality and the ability to connect. Sweet, charmingly furnished room has a private bathroom nearby. "I arrived a bit early after riding my motorcycle all day in the rain. The owners welcomed me in, got me some hot coffee and some snacks. Two of the kindest people you will ever meet. The rooms are immaculately clean and well appointed. I highly recommend. "

Perfect peace and quiet in rural France

"Stopped here en route to Italy by car, very much off the beaten track. Lovely countryside location, very peaceful. Pleasant welcome. good room with all facilities, bed was adjustable and very comfortable. Decor a little dated, but this is part of the charm of choosing a rural hotel. Excellent meal, reasonably priced; lady who served us was especially nice. Good breakfast. Would definitely come back."

Outstanding stay

"Just returned from a wonderful stay at Chez Mathilde near Verdun. Annie, our host, was absolutely lovely — so welcoming and friendly, and she even treated us to delicious homemade goodies. The house itself was amazing, full of character with beautiful traditional features and immaculate furnishings throughout. It really felt like a home away from home. The area is fantastic too, with so much history to explore, especially the WWI sites nearby. We’d highly recommend Chez Mathilde to anyone looking for a charming and memorable stay!
