"They canceled our reservation literally at the last minute without any notification whatsoever; leaving us stranded at the Maun Airport. Then the manager refused to give us a refund. Both Expedia and I tried to rectify the situation for over an hour while still at the airport all to no avail. This feels like quite a scam! They took a reservation and almost $300 USD. "Don’t let the neighborhood fool you, it is after all Africa and it is inside a gated compound, very safe. It is a brand new place that still has a few kinks to work out. Like installing shower curtains. The apartments are very spacious and comfortable. Great value for the money. Recommend having a car, but doable with local cabs. "The hotel is situated on dirt roads and is close to nothing. The rooms had dead bugs and it seemed unkept. Our reservation included free airport pickup and free breakfast. However, we had to pay for transfer and no free breakfast. According to the hostess, we paid a special rate and it did not include those items. "Unfortunately, we had a very mixed stay, with overall disappointment. Starting with the positives, Nokanyana is in a very nice setting, the staff on the property (restaurant, front desk, support functions) were all exceptional - attentive and friendly. The room was spacious and we had everything we needed. Where Nokanyana failed spectacularly is what actually mattered to us most given the location: game drives. Our driver / guide got stuck in sand, something that could happen to anybody (even though it did not happen to us tourists with no training in how to do it). What was shocking is how not "

"This was a quaint hotel that is very convenient to the airport. I stayed here for one night after arriving in Maun the day before going on a safari. The hotel was clean and quiet. The room was basic but clean. The TV was a little wonky (but I think it was my specific TV because the one in my parents' room was fine). I had chosen a regular room and it was comfortable enough for me. My parents' choose a river view room, but found when they arrived that the river was dry, so it was more or less just looking at a grassy area. The restaurant at the lodge was very good! It's an open air restaurant (with covered sections), so it is almost magical on a nice night. They had a fire pit lit and it was just a beautiful experience. I didn't go to the pool, but I looked at it and it seemed like a nice pool area."

"Staff is helpful, room is good and clean. I know we are in Botswana and I don’t expect air conditioner for rooms because electric power is from solar panel. I hope hotel can keep in mind one very important thing: don’t supply spaghetti made of yuca, for many people including us, this yuca will cause severe food allergy, which lasted for two days. "

"Check in was really messy. We arrived a bit early, but they used around 15min just to find our bookings, then they used another 10min to find out if some rooms where ready, in the end we just left to go for lunch another place to give them time to sort out some rooms. When we came back 1h45min later they had still not found us some rooms. Took another 20mins for them to check us in! By which time we had just 10mins for the 3 of us to get a shower and go to the airport to do the helicopter trip we had booked. Otherwise hotel was good, just that it was really noisy when people talked outside rooms."
