Enjoy a cup of morning coffee out on the expansive two-tier, lake view deck. Imagine waking to the songs of loons outside your window.
Launch our kayak, rowboat or canoe from our marsh walk and dock on Sunshine Lake as you paddle among loons, wild ducks, terns, sandhill cranes, and eagles. In 2024 we added a two sets of stair steps to make getting to dock easy.
Grill a meal with friends and family out on the deck. Then, gather by the lakeside fire ring to share stories and roast s’mores. You might even catch an occasional wandering moose or bear swimming across the lake.
At the end of the day, retreat back to the deck and relax after a day of hiking, biking, flightseeing, or fishing. Feel the tension release as you ease into your memory foam topped bed.

The hosts truly think about everything needed for the most comfortable stay. Our whole family enjoyed our short getaway, as this place is a little slice of heaven!!! We would highly recommend staying here! Thank you for the use of this lovely home!!!
The property was perfect for our family vacation! Excellent location and the house has everything you could need. Host was communicative and ensured a smooth check in. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the property!
Really enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful property and the nature was stunning! There was plenty of firewood and despite being off the beaten path, amenities were great. Super short drive to some great breweries and downtown Talkeenta which was so much fun! Peter was a great host and we couldn’t have asked for more
We had such an amazing time. The house was PERFECT for our family of 5. We had fun on the lake. It was a short drive to Talkeetna with amazing views on the way. It was also close to the grocery store and short drive to other fishing lakes we visited. I would highly recommend this property!
We loved our stay in this tranquil property! Beautiful location and with amazing lake views, the deck was a great spot to relax and watch the bird life. Well equipped kitchen, comfy beds and amazing Alaskan decor! An ideal base for visiting Denali National Park, Talkeetna and a sort drive to the grocery store. Would highly recommend.
We had the best new years week vacation. The house was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor Alaska activities on the frozen lake behind the house. Definitely a week the family will remember.
We only stayed one night in this home but Peter had us set up for fishing and kayaking in the lake in front of the home. It is in a beautiful setting and the deck is perfect for relaxing while enjoying the views. The home is located close to town and very close to our favorite local spot Denali Brewing. Although it was a short stay we really enjoyed the home. We will be staying there again while in Talkeetna.
It was a beautiful place to stay while we finished our vacation in Denali and Talkeetna. Lots of space, outside amenities and everything one could for cooking. Beds and pillows were wonderful! Slept so well and the bathrooms were so beautiful. It truly was a wonderful home away from home! Thanks so much Peter! Will definitely recommend to others!
The lake house was more than expected. Despite the rain we enjoyed the peacefulness of the home and just really got to relax and enjoy the views. Quiet neighborhood and great views of lake and birds. Would highly recommend !
The stay was fantastic and owners were able to communicate promptly! Would recommend this to anyone!!!! I wish we would’ve had more time to play on the property itself! I could see myself staying there for days and just enjoying the amazing view! It’s truly like something out of a movie!
While we thoroughly enjoyed the view of the water and all the birds that visited us, watching TV with 4 adults was a challenge. Only 3 adults can fit on the sofa, the 4th had to sit downstairs and look-up the stairs to watch. Loved the town of Talkeetna and all the folks we met
We had a great time during our stay here. All three generations found something wonderful about the Rusty Salmon Lake House. We loved sitting on the comfortable deck watching the birds and looking at the lake. We used the canoe and kayaks to tool around the lake and fished from the dock as well. The house was full of so much interesting Alaska decor for us to explore. We used the house as a jumping off point to go visit Denali National Park, but we enjoyed just staying at the house and relaxing at the lake as well. We would definitely recommend this listing to anyone looking to stay in the Talkeetna area.
We felt a million miles away from our homes in Anchorage. What a lovely setting to have a girls weekend celebrating some August birthdays. We could barely tear ourselves away from the inviting place to go hiking.
We all marveled at the unique Alaskan flavor of the home. It felt like we were at a friends place. So cozy and the best views of the lake kept us at such a relaxed state of being.
All 3 of us really enjoyed the super stocked kitchen for the fancy meals we made. It wasn’t missing anything.
Overall a fabulous place. We hope to come back in the winter.

We had a wonderful stay in this serene lakeside house. Beds were comfortable, views were relaxing and the kayaks were a great plus! Communication with host was easy and we would definitely return!
