Arrived at 3am and check in was ok. The room was on the 3rd floor outside the lift and was noisy. However,it was adequate with a comfortable double bed and a small, albeit dirty bathroom. We had a knock to our door at check out time by two men which we assumed were hotel staff. As we soon discovered at reception, they were tour operators trying to get us to book a car and driver around Rajasthan. They had come to our hotel room door!!! Trust me when I say it’s bad enough dealing with all this hassle outside never mind in your hotel where you should be able to escape it all! After exploring Delhi we came back to the hotel to use the WiFi (as it was good) and plan our trip some more. Again there were a lot of men sitting around the small reception area seemingly doing nothing. One man took his mobile out, spoke and conveniently enough the same two tour operators walked in to the hotel again!! We booked this hotel as it was walking distance from the train station and met our needs for the night, however it wasnt really that close. You would still need a tuk tuk ride and you may as well have that hassle once outside not in your hotel or even worse, your room door!!!

Good choice for staying in Paharganj
If you are looking for a place to stay in Paharganj, Hotel lals Haveli would be a good choice. The rooms have air conditioning and are clean (I suggest asking for a room without carpet. It feels cleaner with hard floors). The owner is very helpful and friendly. It's a 5 minute rickshaw ride to the nearest metro station or you can walk 10 minutes. Overall, it's a very good budget hotel in Delhi.

Good location, Good Value.
Great location, within walking distance of new Delhi train station. Cheapest hotel we stayed in during our trip (we stayed in six). Nice breakfast on rooftop. Friendly, helpful staff. Room a little noisey and no tea/coffee making facilities in room. In a lively street just off Desh Bandhu Gupta Road, we felt very safe in this area, even though it is very busy. If you want better accommodation it will cost you more, this is fine if you are on a budget, nice hot shower (en-suite).

Central but quiet.
Ok budget hotel. Quiet, but central. Nice and helping staff. Have your meals elsewhere. Do not use the pick-up service from train station, you will be charged Rs 350, while new delhi station is so close that a tuk-tuk costs no more than 50.

The hotel was close to the rail station which was why we booked. the Hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful. they have a nice rooftop restaurant which is a nice release from the chaos of Delhi. The only down side was the day manager hooked us up with a travel company that brings you to their office in a car and rail roads you into booking trips, they promise you lots but the real agenda is to take your money and bring you to food stops and shops so they can get a cut from what you buy.

The best hotel!!
They were very kind. We arrived at night but we didn't need to worry because they picked us up at the airport. They'd feeded back soon when i sent email But you have to know there e mail address is "hotellalhaveli@yahoo.com" whithout 's'(no lals) and don't care capital. And our train was at 7p.m. They let us rest in the big room until that time. You can also use wifi there :-)

Hotel lals Haveli
We had to change our reservation in Delhi at the last minute, and found Hotel lals Haveli online and booked it without knowing much. The staff were very accommodating - we arrived at 11PM on New Year's Eve, and the check-in process was fast enough to get us out into the city for midnight celebrating. The staff were nothing but friendly (they even gave us a wake-up call and set up our taxi to the airport) and there was plenty of hot water. It's not super fancy, but for Delhi the room was quiet and the location was good for easy connections (via auto rickshaw) to Connaught Place and other sites around the city.

Not bad but restaurant was good
The stuff tried to sell me a taxi to get to the caves instead of giving me useful information about taking the bus (timetable...). The stuff was not helpful and unengaged. I enjoyed the ambiance on the terrace-restaurant very much. They have good food. The hotel is not very central but in a quiet neighbourhood.

The hotel room itself was fairly clean. The staff were friendly. However this was the only good points. At the time I was there, the hotel front entrance was covered in fleas. The maintenance was not good in general. The air conditioning unit was loud and it was difficult to sleep.

Friendly and trustworthy staff
Having stayed in the Paharganj area many times in the past 12 years, I have found this to be the nicest hotel from the point of view of the helpfulness and trustworthiness of the staff. I have stayed in more expensive hotels nearby but have had lots problems with building work going on during the nights, almost shaking the walls with the noise levels. But the most frustrating aspect was the staff being very unhelpful and saying that the noise would stop after 5 mins. Lals Haveli is quieter although it may be a bit hard for taxi and rickshaw drivers to find.

Fine place to sleep
Arrived early and was taken to rooftop patio for tea while they readied the room. Very friendly front desk folks and had a nice chat with friendly staff while I waited. The room was fairly clean with basic accommodations. I didn't plan to be in my room much, so it was just what I needed for a reasonable price. The lack of actual shower in the room (there was a shower head) might have made some people uncomfortable, but was sufficient. I was warned by some friends in Bangalore that this area of Delhi wasn't as nice or safe, but found it to be just fine. There was a small grocery near by and many food stands. Overall it was an easy place to stay.

A first-class hotel in the heart of North Delhi.
Their service is impeccable. We arrived at 6am in the morning and they checked us in with no fuss. We (me and one other) had a couple of friends who were leaving for the airport in the evening, needed a quick shower and rest. The hotel manager let them stay with no extra charge. He did wanted us to book an additional room to accommodate them but later allowed them to crash in with us till 6pm. That's 12 hours! For a hotel.com rate that was one of the lowest, they provided us with a president's equivalent suite. The room was huge, impeccable decor for a 2 star hotel (it should be at least 3.5 stars for that room and having the only elevator I see in the entire delhi city) clean and sanitized toilet. The only drawback was that we couldn't figure out how to have hot water. Considering that it was summer and Delhi was a hot 45 deg Celsius, the hot water feature was rather unimportant. Food there is awesome, they have a rooftop restaurant and cable tv. Easy access to autos and food/fruits at the street. We went to connaught place and had a hard time getting an auto back which knew where multani dhanda was, which was a little problem. Btw don't pay more than fifty for the auto trip from Connaught back to hotel. We checked out on time and left our bags at their cloak room. However, learning of our late 10pm flight, the senior manager gave us another hotel room until 6pm without charge! It was a godsend because Delhi was so hot and we needed a shower right before leaving for the hotel. They even arranged for an auto to the airport and haggled on our behalf for a really good deal. all in all, I highly recommend this hotel for their service, cleanliness, courtesy and food.

A good footing in Delhi
In many ways, the Hotel Lal's Haveli is a bulk-standard Delhi gaff. Nothing special (It is unrecognisable from the picture on the website, which makes it appear detached with trees in front!!!). It isn't The Raffles, but then what do you expect for twenty quid. It could do with a dust but it isn't running with cockroaches. However, there are two facets that make Lal's a winner. First is the service, which is efficient and attentive. Young Raj speaks excellent English and is always extremely helpful, but then all of the staff are extremely helpful - even if their English isn't always as good. The second facet that makes Lal's the place to stay in Pahar Ganj is the rooftop garden; an ideal place to while away the warm evenings far from the chaos and bustle of Delhi below. The fairy lights are very pretty and the water feature lends a calm ambience to proceedings, plus you get a cracking view of the Delhi skyline. The food isn't half bad either. All-in-all, this is a great place to stay in the heart of Pahar Ganj. There's a fantastic bikaner (Indian sweets) over the road and a juice bar next door that does the best mango shakes in Delhi. It's also very close to New Delhi Railway Station. If you're on a budget and want reasonable quality coupled with good service, this will not disappoint.

no admittance
We had booked this hotel 6 weeks in advance, I had confirmed the booking via phone twice in order to make sure at our arrival at about 2 am we woul still be admitted. However when we arrived at Dehli Airport, we called the hotel to let them know we were on the way, they refused to host us, said there was no such booking, that due to whatever festival the hotel could not be accessed. We insisted and kept approaching the hotel, calling again and again from different points. It took hours to get there and to find a very peculiar gentlemen from an open travel agnecy at 2 am who had the goodness to make sure we were "enthusiastically" received and set in our room with Indian technical and claening standard. Not with the separated beds we had booked, but whatever... It was now 3:30 am and we had arrived at 11 pm at the Airport New Dehli. Incredible India! We thaught. The nex t morning we shared our experience with the supposing hotel manager. He told us, that the recepetion had been waiting for us all night, that we must have been caught off by betrayers who wanted to lead us into much more expensive hotels. Mhh, but everytime we had called the same number from someones cell phone or landline the call must have been missguided. . . Too crazy to be true? Or just a very chaep excuse? Incredible Indiaaaa !!! we thaught.

Basic Hotel, fine to sleep in, although the noisy dog continues to irritate, not comfortable enough to hang out in for long periods but good as a cheap base to go out from. Price reflects the distance from sights and metro. Busy bustling area with supermarket near by. Roof top food area good for snacks and breakfast. Staff keen to help. Need auto ric shaw to get about, plenty outside, about 15 minutes from Red Fort, same to Connaught place. Too far to walk to sights and metro.

Ok but overpriced and bad location very busy road
Hotel is ok but I paid over double the price of hotels of a similar standard in better locations in Delhi for this one. Most annoying thing was I had to cross a very busy road to get anywhere interesting which was very inconvenient. Rooms were neat but unclean although the room service was good and staff were very helpful. Hotel almost empty and I was the only person in the rooftop restaurant in the 2 hours I spent there one evening. My tip, head for Pahar Ganj. Just 3 minutes walk from this one and much better value with good connection to the Metro.

Clean and basic hotel in Delhi
My boyfriend and I spent 4 nights in this hotel at the beginning of my trip to India. I had read many horror stories about accommodation in Delhi and after reading reviews decided on this hotel as I wanted somewhwere basic and clean. I was releived to find that this hotel delivered on both. The room and bathrom were clean. You needed to leave the hot tap and shower running to have a hot shower (but just for about 10mins, which wasn't a problem). The street looked a bit chaotic but was pleasantly surprised to find that it was very easy to sleep at night. I never ate in the hotel so cannot comment on the food. The only annoyance was that the bedsheet tiny and ended just below the knees!

A good hotel to stay with. Their hospitality was so good. They are very much adjustable. Even the check out time is 12 noon, they allowed us to take rest for another 1 hr or so without any extra charge, when we came back to the hotel for our evening train. Good food as well. If they arrange for a free airport/railway station pickup, it would be nice.

Having arrived in the early morning there were no issues in checking in early and the staff were very helpul. Overall the room was adequate, the only slight let down was the noise level from traffic outside but in Delhi that is a given. There was hot water in the bathroom and every time we asked staff a question they did their best to help.

The staff make this place
This hotel isn't in the greatest neighbourhood, however, the location is central and the staff are fabulous. It is owned by an Indian American and probably offered the closest thing to American service standards we experienced in a month in India. Small tips probably helped that! Room was clean, except for the carpet which was pretty easy to ignore. Air conditioning actually worked and we experienced only a few brief power shortages where at other hotels we'd be without power for hours. I'd recommend this property if you are looking for budget accommodation that is central.

Reasonable budget hotel
For the price, an okish hotel in a good location. The rooms are quite shabby and small, but clean enough. The most disappointing thing was that the beds were too short for me to fit in (I'm 6ft tall) and that the shower was weak and far from warm. On the plus side, the staff are helpful and friendly. The hotel location is good, within easy reach of Connaught Place and the sights of Old Delhi. The rooftop restaurant has good food and excellent views over the surrounding neighbourhood. Interestingly, the whole hotel noticably leans to one side!

Avoid a long stay
Might be a good option for one night if you really don't care about your neighbourhood. The road is one of the dirtiest I've seen in Delhi, people there are a bit dogdy, especially after sunset. We had the "Presidential" room on the 3rd floor. Had a carpet that desperatly needed a cleaning. There are definetely better mid-range options. Also closer to either Old Delhi or New Delhi.

Hotel on the border line of New delhi and Old delhi...Well it's not 7 star hotel but If you're not too fussy about where you staying all i can say is " It's OK."....But if you have plenty money to blow off, you could go to very expensive hotel but lal's haveli...Only one thing made me question mark about this hotel, hot water. There was no hot water at all,but during my visit delhi was hot.So it was okey for me take a shower with cold water..Staff and managers are super helpfull and all the time ready for any kind of help....Finally all i can say if i go back to delhi I could go there again...
