"The waiter serving 13/08/25 is fantastic.
Stayed here a year ago, he remebered me, is very polite and attentive but not overbearing, profelfessional and down to earth. The reason I enjoyed my 1st stay.
The front of house Charlie, is also fantastic, down to earth, personable and professional.
The chef, begind closed doors is also clearly very good at their job, having stayed a few nights and sampling various parts of the menu, everything is very nicely cooked, presented and tasty."
"We had a lovely stay for two nights. Was lovely, quiet and staff were excellent. We arrived to a lovely dessert selection in our room which was very much appreciated. Would highly recommend if older, heritage properties are your preference (like ours)!"
"Terrific choice on the menus . Very comfortable bed and room . Internet good. Beautifully decorated. Staff pleasant and super helpful, especially on reception. "
"The room was excellent. Great size comfortable bed. The staff where so welcoming and friendly. Didnt eat with them in the evening. The breakfast was very good. Huge choice with cereal and fruit. Will definitely use again."
"First time of staying at a Marston's, couldn't fault the accommodation, check in was good the room was excellent, clean and well equipped would most definitely stay again.
Across the car park was the bar and restaurant which was very well presented and staffed by very pleasant staff, the food however left a lot to be desired, I ordered fish and chips with mushy peas, upon receiving it I should have returned it but I had been travelling all day and was so tired I couldn't be bothered as I just wanted to sleep. The mushy peas were so dry they had left the sides of the ramakin, chips weren't to bad finally the fish! It was so contorted it made an arch on my plate I picked it up at one end and it left the plate like a piece of cardboard, I've never experienced a piece of fish like it.
What was very self evident was how quiet the place was for a Friday night, serving food as was served to me is the reason. Come on guys, look at what you're serving and ask yourself "is this good enough""
