Top Darwin R. Barker Historical Museum Hotel Reviews
Best Western Dunkirk & Fredonia Inn
10/10 Excellent
"Although this hotel is nothing fancy, the front desk employees were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. I asked for a quiet room and even though the room was directly over the dining area, I never heard a thing. I thought the bed was going to be too firm, but slept like a baby. Breakfast was the usual buffet, but it’s free so no complaints. The only complaint I have is that they advertised the ability to “cast” premium channels from your phone to the tv but found out the tv wasn’t connected to the internet. Limited channels available otherwise. Would definitely stay here again"
"If you love the "old-school" motels, this is a great one. It's clean, safe, and just a great place to stay. I loved the feel of the place, and the lady behind the desk was absolutely wonderful. I am a road-tripper from the old days, and spent a lot of time in motels like this one with my parents. "
"Hosts were incredibly kind and helpful. Cabin is perfectly cozy, with exactly enough to be comfortable. Phone reception was mildly decreased, which was perfect for not falling into the phone but still being somewhat connected. Nestled in the trees, just far enough from the neighboring houses. We felt safe, even when our only light came from the fire pit. We missed our birding field guide, but enjoyed the various winged visitors all the same. Before we headed home, we stopped at the shore - max 10 minutes drive. Grateful for this getaway!"
Cozy 3-bedroom house in charming Westfield with WiFi and all the amenities
2/10 Terrible
"We stayed in this house for two months while we were doing a kitchen renovation, The only reason we stayed is because we had no other options this time of year for a rental that would take pets. We survived because we brought everything we needed from our house.
We did not receive any instructions prior to the rental and there were no instructions at the house for check-in and checking out procedures, internet/tv access or information on the local area. We had to contact the host to get the access code to enter and the Wi-Fi codes. The house was not cleaned prior to our arrival, there are broken blinds in every room, missing screens on half the windows, damage to the walls and ceiling, mold on the walls and ceiling, unstable floors, and a toilet that won't refill without reaching into the tank. The house comes with paper plates and plastic silverware and one pot for cooking.
During our stay, we caught 4 mice, lost water twice, once for 18 hours, had cleaners show up twice with no prior notice, and two renters arrive who had booked the house at the same time we were there.
There is also a lack of ventilation in the house due to missing screens, but fortunately, we were able to bring our own window air conditioners.
The owner was prompt when called for the water repairs.
If I had come from out of town, I properly would not have stayed one night in the house."
