  • Eighteen Mile Cottage is a beautifully appointed early 1920s Queenslander holiday home, full of charm and character.
    Nestled beside an invigorating river flowing close to its source, the Lamington National Park.

    Located in the stunning Lost World Valley, within Queensland’s Scenic Rim, it’s just a 90-minute drive from both Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

    Set on a private, fully fenced property, surrounded by approximately 500 acres of captivating mountains, sprawling pastures, and pretty countryside.

    With its romantic and cozy ambiance, the cottage is an ideal retreat for couples, small families, and groups of friends seeking to relax, unwind, and recharge.

    Explore the beautiful rock pools—perfect for a refreshing swim, fishing, or a peaceful picnic by the water. For those feeling adventurous, mountain hikes await just beyond your doorstep!

    Guests interested in farm animal experiences can visit a nearby property by prior arrangement and booking (fees apply). Bookings must be made directly between guests and the property.

Brilliant cottage hideaway

Beautiful cottage in secluded spot near the creek. Amazing ambiance. We loved it. We’ll be back.Everything you need in the cottage for a great stay. Fireplace in back yard is the best you can get. We did camp oven cooking while watching the tiny fairy wrens and taking in the spectacular scenery

Breath of fresh air

This cottage and its surrounds gave our family some time out of the hustle and bustle of life. Warm beds, cosy interior and campfires by night. Plenty of space for kids to walk around in the creek, play soccer and ride bikes. Great communication with the lovely host too!

Peace and relaxation

We (and the fur baby) had a 7 night stay at 18 Mile Cottage for 7 and we didnt want to leave. On the large back verandah, which catches the breeze and has a wonderful outlook, we BBQ'd, ate, drank, played games, watched and listened to the birds and the cows, and heard the river running by. We enjoyed dips in the river each day, as did the dog until he was exhausted.Sitting by the fire in the evening was so relaxing, and being able to see so many stars at night was beautiful. Oh, and the bed was very comfortable.

Home away from home!

We would live here if we could. If you are feeling stressed by life and need a reset and time out from the hustle and bustle, you need to stay in this beautiful cottage and lap up all its serenity. The landscape and 360 degree surroundings of this cottage are absolutely gorgeous. We thoroughly enjoyed waking up to the sounds of the creek and all the pretty birds along it. When we were done relaxing, there was plenty of activities to do, including hiking along a mountain top with breathtaking views, walking along the creek beds, and eating a cheese board next to the fire. We now consider this place our home away from home, and will be back again and again and again.

Lovely weekend getaway from Brisbane. Quaint, well furnished old style cottage with a lot of character in a beautiful country setting. Hosts were very welcoming, easy access, the cottage is very well equipped and the hosts have obviously gone to a lot of effort to make for a very pleasant stay. We loved the beautiful large verandah in the midst of nature. My 18 month old loved all the birds, wallabies, and cows in the field next door. We also loved the little trail to the creek where we could have a dip. We had a lot of fun, thanks so much for having us xx

Excellent Weekend Getaway

We had a great experience staying in the country cottage with all the necessities and creature comforts. No wifi or phone reception which allowed us to completely switch off and relax. We explore the local area and climbed up the mountain behind the cabin. The creek, paddock and firepit were added bonuses that enhanced the overall time spent here - highly recommend.

We would recommend Darlington to those who desire a quiet, relaxing few days. Its hidden down Kerry Road on the way to the Lost World Valley. Feels a bit like entering Jurassic Park when exploring the cascading creek on the edge of the national park. A great place to take the dog, plenty of walks and we experienced one of the best star lit nights as there is no ambient lights from civilisation.
