Convenient from location & price point as I revisited after 26 yrs Carbon air pollution from line up barbecue services especially in evenings when outside could be negating otherwise indoors is ideal! Accommodating friendly team of staff to your service was excellent

Room had cockroaches and they were pretty run down. The stuff we’re very polite, good and accommodating. Hotel needs major renovations. I will not stay there again, unless the hotel does major renovations. Location is excellent.

Awful room.

This place has poor air conditioning and doesn’t work we had to change room 2 times after a long journey with flight from Sweden. The management could only say sorry when I asked why they didn’t check the room before they rent it out? The restaurant is also terrible am a chef myself and the pepper steak was dry and was delivered in small pieces. When ordering for my daughter noodles I received pasta tasteless. And they have the heart to charge us tax on the damn bill. we moved all our heavy luggage in the heat twice at the middle of the night. I definitely not recommending this place if you want a relaxing vacation.

This was my first time staying at this particular hotel in Dar. I had a great experience staying here. It is centrally located and has very friendly and professional staff. I arrived at the hotel one day after my initial booking due to flight cancelation. When I emailed Expedia and the hotel about my delay, the hotel management was very responsive and very flexible with my arrival date changes. When I finally arrived at the hotel, checking in was very easy. The receptionists were friendly and helpful. Many thanks to Eunice and Gertrude. My room was clean and well kept, thanks to Mwasi and all the room services staff. The breakfast was great and the restaurant team members were very very helpful and professional. During my stay, I had some challenges connecting my work computer on free wifi provided at the hotel, and this was mainly due to my work computer security settings and not necessarily the hotel wifi issue. I eventually had to get a personal router from the local internet providers. Thanks to Manager Raaj, who provided a car and driver to take me around to the internet provider store to get what I needed for my work computer to work. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to stay closer to everything in the city.

Receptionists were friendly and helpful. Many thanks to Eunice and Gertrude. Great Customer Service and Care. Bell boys, drivers were very helpful. Special thanks to Joshua who always helps with my Shopping with smiles. He escorted me to exchange my money.....which was just about 5mins walk. Martha had smiles on her face while cleaning up my room. Manager Raaj kept in touch even before my arrival, and introduced himself. He made sure I lacked nothing. Manager and Receptionists call to find out about my well-being. Driver Barak was exceptional. Always prompt, safe, knows everywhere in Dar. Friendly, level-headed, and very helpful, offering advice. He's the equivalence of a "human Yellow Pages", lol!! Location is less than 7mins walk from Restaurants (I recommend Chef Pride), about 1hr to the Airport (due to a bit of traffic). A team of fantastic people who showed teamwork and friendliness towards each other, a bunch of naturally nice people!! Thank you all, and God Bless!!

The staff were tremendously kind and helpful from the moment we stepped out of our vehicle. The complementary breakfasts were unusual and delicious, with different Indian and East African dishes every morning. The rooms are spacious and clean with excellent air conditioning. The location is interesting with so much activity surrounding it. I would highly recommend this nplace!

Everything fine, except terrible wifi

All was fine. But internet connection /wifi/ is terribly unreliable. If that is important to you. This hotel is not for you. Otherwise , staff are nice, location is good, rooms are clean. And Breakfast buffet was just okay. Minimal options, but enough.

Good hotel for families

I stayed in the Urban Rose for 5 days with my wife and 2 kids. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfasts included with my room quite good. We stayed in the 2 bedroom family rooms- it was very nice for the kids to stay in their own room and have a common area for all. The hotel decore was in decent shape, though not particularly fancy. The staff at the front desk and bellmen were very helpful on multiple occasions. Overall, a comfortable place to stay and good value for a family.

We stayed just one night, waiting to go to Zanzibar. The staff were very helpful, and serviceminded,the driver were waiting for us at the airport even though we were three hours late. Don't know to much about the area around the Hotel.

Good nights rest

We stayed here for one night before leaving for Arusha to start Safari. The room was huge. It had a great restaurant on premises. We felt secure at the hotel. Staff was attentive and kind. Even made us "to go" breakfast for our bus ride.

Nice location. Large unit with bedroom, TV den room, large kitchen dining entrance area and deck area overlooking lower street. Enjoyed visit, walking around town and going to National Museum. Very clean, nice service.

A little better than average

I stayed at the hotel for seven nights. The large room had a king size bed which was comfortable but I got annoyed that the bottom sheet was not fitted and kept coming loose during the night. There was a sitting room with TV, good sized kitchen, with newish refrigerator and microwave (but no dining table) and a balcony. The air conditioning worked well but the room always smelled mildewy. Overall the hotel could use some sprucing up (paint, plaster repair, newer furniture). The desk staff were helpful and the dining staff were friendly. The breakfast buffet has something for everyone but the food is just OK. I did appreciate the fresh fruit and fresh made omelets. When I checked out they charged me a $25 "city tax". I had not been told about this when I booked the hotel (on-line) and a colleague of mine (who stays in Dar every year) said there is no such thing. Except for this last thing, I pretty much got what I expected based on the reviews.

Came to country for friends wedding. Had a lovely time. Hotel was nice with great restaurant which catered to my needs as I was allergic to sunflower oil. So they changed and cooked mine in olive oil very kind of them

Simple and old

Old hotel in Indian area of the town. Staff member nice and helpful. But two negative points. Breakfast simple and our vater tank (hot)exploded when stayed in the room. ( i guess , old model and we found it dangerous)

Very central close to town center and ferry port

Good hotel, very central, close to main shopping area, banks, resturants and ferry port to Zanzibar. Large room with good facilities, staff very friendly overall. Documentation was poor, they had dificulty with our booking, at check out they made additional charges for city tax wtihout telling us, we did not get a full break down of charges with receipts, front desk administration needs to be improved, seems to be a lot of people in the office doing everything but looking after guests.
