"Super comfortable bed. "
We were very happy with this interesting hotel. The bed was the most comfortable one we've slept in on our trip. The architecture of this building is fascinating. We walked all over Amsterdam from this hotel. Worked well for us.

"An excellent hotel with a good position."
Unfortunately when we first arrived there was a crane outside the hotel and we were led through the kitchen to get in. In fact we were unable to use the front entrance at all throughout our stay, which is a shame as the entrance is rather nice. However, the hotel is a lovely old building and the staff are of true 5* standard, and despite being on the top floor, the room was excellently appointed and the turn down service a blast from a more opulent past. Although we would have liked to be informed of the refurbishment work, either by the hotel or Expedia, we were pleased we were not put off as the position of the hotel, the professionalism of the staff and the comfort of the room, combined with a grand old building, made for a truly enjoyable short break.

"Centrally located near A'dam Train station/de Dam"
This hotel is truly one of the most centrally located hotels in Amsterdam. Situated right on Dam Square, it is a 7 minute walk to the train station and the tram stop is right outside the front door. Across from the hotel is the beautiful department store De Bijenkorf, which is comparable to Macy's Department Store. Around Dam Square there are many restaurants to choose from, as well as several attractions. I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel. The hotel and restaurant staff were very helpful, the rooms were clean and neat, the bed was comfortable and there's even a Nespresso machine in the room! They also have a list of several different types of pillows to choose from, which was great.

"Huge family room"
Huge family room on the ground floor. Two single beds plus two more on a mezzanine level. Modern shower room. Clean and comfortable. Tiny TV. At front of building so a bit noisy and the smokers at the front of the hotel were just the other side of the window. Cheap covered parking close by.

"Fantastic hotel, lovely staff and perfect location"
Hotel The Exchange couldn't have been in a better location! 3 minute walk from the Central Station, and around the same to Dam Square, it was perfect for my 4 night weekend break. Although the hotel was on the main street, our room was quiet and peaceful. We selected the economy 1 star room and were not disappointed. The room was bright and a perfect space. It was tastefully decorated, and incredibly clean! There was also a lift, so we didn't have to manoeuvre the steep stairs with our suitcases! The staff - who also worked in the Stock Cafe adjacent, which serves delicious breakfast, coffees and paninis - were very polite, welcoming and helpful. I could not have asked for a better place to stay on my first trip to Amsterdam, and will without a doubt be returning!

"Perfect location, friendly staff. "
The hotel is located right in Dam Square which is right in the heart of the city and only an 8 minute walk from the train station. The staff was extremely helpful when it came to helping us plan our day trips out of the city. They gave us the exact trains and buses we needed to take to make travelling as painless as possible. They also offered great recommendations for places to eat.

Dam Square - Central Station Accommodation Guide

The bustling heart of Amsterdam, this district attracts hordes of visitors teeming from Centraal Station to Dam Square and its beautiful Nieuwe Kerk (14th-century). The oldest part of town, Oude Zijde, is famous for its Red Light District, but the University and the docks bring a different kind of colour and buzz to the narrow streets. Don't miss the Oude Kerk, the Amstelkring Museum or the paintings in the Amsterdam Museum.
