" Our August stay at Southern Comfort was awesome! We spent the whole week swimming, boating, and hanging out on the dock. We loved the fire pit, baking, geocaching, reading, hot tubbing, playing ping pong and board games. The area is absolutely gorgeous, particularly with coffee in-hand on an early summer morning when the fog hasn’t yet cleared. The house was very clean and quite comfortable, and the kitchen was large enough for two to three people cooking and baking, and even had some bonus appliances like an instant pot! There was plenty of room in the whole house for our group of 19 (half of which were kids under 10), and we appreciated that just about every bedroom had its own bathroom. It might be worth noting that not all of the bedrooms have ceiling fans, and a few people mentioned it was warm in their rooms at night. We did have a couple of things arise during the week, and Mary Beth, who was absolutely a pleasure to interact with, responded quickly, and had someone out to fix things within the day. For future renters, I would mention two things that you should know, though they don’t reflect on the house or owner. One, that the driveway to the property is quite steep; something to be aware of if you have a high-profile vehicle like some in our group. And second, be aware that the area has a 10pm noise curfew, and sound really carries on the water; if you have children who are in bed before then, we recommend bringing sound machines. All in all, loved it!"

"This is a very historic place with modern facilities. Our room had a comfortable bed, excellent wi-fi, coffee maker and private bath. The breakfast both mornings was outstanding! The area is very quiet with several places within walking distance for meals and /or drinks. It is 5 minutes to the National Park. The owner/manager was very helpful when we made a booking error, and couldn’t have been kinder while helping me fix my mistake. I highly recommend this lovely place for anyone staying in the area."
