Vær opmærksom pÄ at restauranten pÄ hotellet...

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Cuena?
The best area to stay in Cuenca is the Old Town, known as Casco Antiguo, which is perched on a hilltop overlooking the Júcar and Huécar rivers.

This historic district is characterised by its narrow, winding cobblestone streets, mediaeval architecture, and the famous "Hanging Houses" (Casas Colgadas) that cling to the cliff edge. The Plaza Mayor, with its cathedral, is the central point of the area, bustling with cafes and restaurants. It's a very walkable area, though be prepared for hills and steps.

Couples will find the Casco Antiguo particularly appealing due to its romantic setting and unique historical character. You can enjoy strolls along the precipitous streets, dine in restaurants with stunning views, and easily access historical sites like the Cuenca Cathedral and the Puente de San Pablo bridge, offering spectacular photo opportunities.

For travellers who prefer a more modern setting with easier access, the 'Ensanche' or New Town, located at the base of the hill, offers contemporary hotels and a flatter terrain.
When is the best time to go to Cuena?
The best time to visit Cuenca is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months. These periods offer pleasant weather, making it ideal for exploring the city and its surroundings.

During spring, the temperatures are mild, and the countryside around Cuenca is green and lush. This is a great time for couples or solo travellers who enjoy walking and hiking, as the trails in the nearby SerranĆa de Cuenca Natural Park are particularly inviting. The city also hosts several cultural events, including Easter (Semana Santa) celebrations, which are quite elaborate.

Autumn also brings comfortable temperatures and beautiful, warm colours to the landscape, particularly in the forested areas. It's an excellent time for those interested in photography or simply enjoying the natural beauty of the region without the summer crowds. The harvest season often means you'll find local produce and dishes at their best.

While summer (July and August) is popular, it can be very hot, especially in July and August, which might make extended sightseeing less comfortable.
