Local of 30 years corrected our misguided perception of Coober Pedy after reading statistics from Red Suburbs site about the “violent crime” in the town. Statistics are totally misleading and relate to an isolated incident that happened in late 2023 from visiting Alice Springs mob who made their way to Coober Pedy for a funeral. "There was no soap available for washing hands, however the coffee machine and microwave were definitely handy. Also, we struggled with the pillows - they were very hard and big. It would have been good to have a couple of additional pillows as an option for use. Also the water temperature in the shower was slow to respond and my partner had to have a cold shower after me, despite my shower being short."
