I contacted Expedia on 3/17 to cancel the booking because I no longer needed the room and was connected to Patrick G, an Expedia customer service representative. Patrick G reported the following: “I was able to contact the hotel, and they have advised that they will not charge your card. While they are unable to cancel the reservation as it is already marked as ‘in stay,’ they have agreed to let the booking go as a no-show without any charges. The good news is that you will not be billed for this reservation. However, please note that the booking cannot be formally canceled on either our end or the hotel’s end at this stage.” While I was assured that I would not be charged, $173.37 was charged to my card on 3/18.
