The Congress and Theater House is a majestic structure of imperial design that features a theater hall, several smaller halls and spectacular landscape gardens. This venue hosts many events year-round, including important concerts and banquets. Attend a musical performance in the sophisticated interior of the theater hall.

Snap photos of the elegant building façade, with water jets of the central fountain in the foreground. Stroll along the garden’s paved paths on a sunny afternoon and appreciate the array of colorful flowers. Marvel at the patterns of colorful floral arrangements and notice a row of international flags hoisted from the building.

Admire the building’s intriguing architecture. The lower half is comprised mostly of glass. The upper half features quaint arched windows and a small pediment. Come to a concert here and appreciate the excellent acoustics in the theater hall. The auditorium has an area of 7,900 square feet (730 square meters), with a large retractable orchestra pit and seating capacity for 850 people.

Browse works of art at an exhibition in the elegant and airy Small Hall, which is sound-proofed. Enjoy a meal on the terrace of the restaurant, which uses local ingredients and culinary specialties. The restaurant has a view of the picturesque Kurpark. Gaze up at the verdant mountains in the distance, framed by the variation of trees in the foreground.

Note that the complex was initially opened in 1875 and it went on to host elegant balls and galas. It was used as a military hospital during World War II but it burned down in 1965. Today, this reconstructed multipurpose hall hosts all types of events, including business gatherings, concerts and lectures.

The Congress and Theater House is located in the center of Bad Ischl in the Salzkammergut Lake District. Ride the bus to one of the stops at several points close to the site. Visit nearby attractions, including the Museum der Stadt Bad Ischl, the Leharvilla Museum and the Traun River.
