  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

The staff they were absolutely amazing and so kind! And the rooms were clean but could’ve been cleaner in the bathroom area found a hair. But overall place was amazing and would definitely book again if I ever go in the area and would recommend my family and friends for a great place to stay to go there!

The hotel and room itself was clean. The bed was very comfortable. I picked this hotel because many reviews raved about the breakfast options. It was extremely limited and nothing looked good. Some cereal, muffins, waffles, packs of oatmeal..that's it. Breakfast was a big letdown.

The stay for me and my family was great, the staff were very nice and friendly, the hotel and rooms were clean, and it was very quiet and peaceful. I would definitely stay there again.

Pretty nice stay

Room was clean and pretty comfy, nice big TV and good AC. The deadbolt was broken and the breakfast wasn't great, but the eggs were good and the gentleman refilling the food was very polite. Would stay here again.
