History of the Muletown Farm This farm has quite a story behind it. The land was originally part of a larger parcel granted by George Washington to Colonel Grant for his leadership during the Revolutionary War.
Over time, the property made its way to the Armstrong family, who came here from South Carolina and worked the land for many years. Local history also says that Davy Crockett spent many nights here on the farm while traveling through the area, which is one of our favorite stories connected to this place.
It's pretty amazing to think about the people who have gathered on this farm over the years. There’s something about this place that sparks creativity. The quiet and history of the farm inspired my husband to write a book while we were in the process of restoring it.
Eventually the farm was owned by Dr. George, a beloved livestock veterinarian in Maury County. For decades, Dixie’s Cottage actually served as his veterinary clinic. After he passed away, the farm sadly fell into disrepair for a time, until we began slowly bringing it back to life.
When we found it, we could see the history and the potential right away. Since then, we’ve been slowly bringing the farm back to life and turning it into the kind of peaceful hobby farm and gathering place we knew it could be.
Our hope is that when people come here they can slow down, breathe a little deeper, enjoy the land, and leave feeling a little more refreshed than when they arrived. And if you stay with us, you’re really becoming part of the next chapter in the farm’s story.
Guests have exclusive access to Sunset Farmhouse, it's porches, fire pit, and backyard during their stay. This house is our most private stay on our farm as it is tucked away from the other 3 houses we rent to guests.

We want guests to feel relaxed and at home , so we give everyone utmost privacy and space to enjoy the farm, but are always available if needed. The best way to reach us if have questions is to text us directly or message through the app

Property is absolutely beautiful and immaculate. The host is so helpful and accommodating. We have already booked it again! Thanks for a relaxing, wonderful stay.
Very clean and inviting home!! Beds are very comfortable!! Pet-friendly! Home was clean and in order. Host very friendly and very informative about the property. We had a great relaxing weekend will definitely be coming to stay again!!
Excellent for our stay during my Aunts Funeral! Everything was clean and effortless! I would definitely stay again, under different circumstances! I would say same however I don’t see that happening again! Perfect for 5-6 people!!
An adorable little farmhouse with all the amenities needed to make this place your home away from home. Great communication and views. We enjoyed the nightly firefly show and stunning sunsets.
My wife and I and her dog Hazel are looking to relocate here and this was the perfect place to call home for two days. We were able to cook our meals here and spend time contemplating our next step.

My husband and I were in the area for business. We absolutely loved this farm! So peaceful and serene.
We enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the sunrise and sunsets and feeding Dixie, their hose apples and carrots. We plan to go back again when we have more time.horawas a sh
It is a beautiful and quite property. The animals were our favorite part! The kids were amazed at the horses! My youngest also loved mimicing the rosters. It was just what we needed. Thank you!
This was one of the most delightful getaway places we've been to! The property is beautiful and peaceful, and the Sunset Farmhouse was a charming place for a short girls' getaway. The home was immaculately clean (and larger than we initially thought!), the hosts provided clear directions and responded promptly to messages prior to our stay, and we didn't have any issues while there. My friend and I have both talked about how we would definitely come back again. This was truly a restorative getaway!
My husband and I enjoyed our stay here very much it was very quiet & comfortable . We enjoyed sitting out on the swing watching the sun go down… Eating breakfast and a few suppers in the kitchen. Loved & touched by reading the book there “Restored”. Only thing not real clean was windowsills on back porch.. but other than that I really nice place to stay hope to come back again sometime in the area. Very easy to speak with owner Holly.
very well in a comfortable bed.
We had a wonderful stay. The property is beautiful and quiet. We did not get to meet the host due to running around for Daughter's wedding. All correspondence with them was answered promptly and very kindly. I hope we get to meet them next time. P.S. love the Keurig machine!
We stayed in the Sunset House on Muletown Farms for the second year in a row for family weddings in Columbia. Great relaxing area. Sitting on the porch in a rocking chair or the porch swing was perfect in the warm sunshine. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to enjoy the new firepit next to the house with outdoor lighting. The property is beautiful to walk around with a friendly horse & dogs to pet. Great place to stay with several cabins/houses to choose from.
My family traveled from 3 different states to celebrate my son’s engagement. Sunset was the perfect location for us to stay. The kids with the baby loved the large bedroom on one end for a little more privacy and threatened to take the bed home with them because it was so comfortable. We enjoyed everything about this beautiful home and my granddaughter absolutely loved Dixie!
