About this property
South Fork of Spotted Bear Retreat
Take the road less traveled. A short distance on a winding, dirt road through the woods will take you to this quiet, secluded destination. This little get-away is nestled in the heart of the woods, yet is only 9.2 miles from West Glacier, Montana - the entrance to Glacier National Park.
The Flathead River here in northwest Montana is designated as a “Wild and Scenic River” and includes the North Fork, Middle Fork and South Fork - the names of the three vacation units available in this triplex cabin. With three private units, this is a great option for group travelers wanting to be together and yet still have their own space, or can be utilized singularly and privately. There are two 6” thick walls and two dead-bolting doors separating each unit.
With the quiet woods all around, this is a great place to unwind and settle in.

Plenty of room and all he amenities that we needed. The only thing we didn't like was the dirt road up to it but that couldn't be helped. Very quiet place away from town noises yet not too far from GNP west gate.
Fantastic location close to Glacier National Park. Very clean and comfortable! We appreciated the Keurig, full kitchen, and the ability to do some laundry. We would definitely stay here again.
We had a great stay and this property was very nice! It was very close to the west entrance to the park. The only thing we wished it had but didn’t was a toaster for the kitchen and an outlet for the loft area.
20 minutes from west gate park entrance. Remote beautiful property. Easy check in and check out. Very clean and host promptly responds to any questions. Amazing experience overall!
Our cabin was perfect for me and my son. It was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. It was a short drive to the West entrance of Glacier. Thanks for making our trip memorable!
My family and I really enjoyed our time here. The beds were comfortable and they provided extra bedding. It’s a little ways from the main road, which made it very nice and quiet. Close to the West Glacier Entrance and other activities outside of the park. Even bear spray was provided! We would stay here again.
We truly enjoyed our stay at this property. I must say, first driving to it I was a little nervous, the property is down dirt roads back in the forest. However, once we arrived we were very happy. Owner lives near property, our kids had a blast playing every evening with his kids. We would definitely stay here again!
Easy to find, check in a breeze, very close to GNP. Best of all was a wonderfully comfortable bed! John was very helpful and friendly. The place is brand new and just perfect for us to hike the park. We will come back for sure!
Great secluded lodgings but easy access to Glacier!
We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The owner is super responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. The cabin is just perfect for a stay at Glacier, great hiking during the day, and a beautiful deck to sit on at night and view the stars. The cabin had everything we needed to make meals at home after long days of hiking. Don’t miss this gem!
The cabin is nice with a yard bordering the woods. We enjoyed the deck. There is plenty of room for two. The only drawback is the second bedroom is a low loft space with a bed on the floor. So if you live with a snorer and want to use the second bedroom, just a heads up.
We enjoyed 4 nights here while visiting Glacier National Park. Clean and comfortable. The only thing we were missing was a toaster, but we survived. Would stay there again. Make sure to set GPS before you get too close. No cell service in area.
Rustic is not an overstatement, but that was just what we were looking for. After all...it is Montana. Access to Glacier Park is terrific and the Flathead river is only a 6 minute drive from your door step. We thoroughly enjoyed star gazing on the banks and were fortunate enough to catch a spectacular performance of the Aurora Borealis. The property manager was a super guy and very attentive. I'll stay again if the party is small enough or just rent multiple units. Very much enjoyed the stay and it was the perfect location.

Liked: Check-in, communication, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness
Montana cabin
Likes: Cute, efficient cabin with a very comfortable king bed. Close to Glacier and town for good eats. Easy to get in and out.
Dislikes: Location felt a little sketchy. Junk, broken down car as you drive into property wasn’t reassuring. Bathroom was not clean. Toothpaste on mirrors and dirty shower was very unpleasant.
The Vrbo is on a beautiful wooded property, with updated interiors. Extremely clean and the owner clearly cares about the details. Thank you for the local treats, a comfy bed, and a lovely porch.
We stayed at another Vrbo with family earlier in the week, the owner of that one was extremely demanding with a 20-point list of expectations and chores for us. Spotted Bear Retreat is the opposite of this. They make it easy and stress free for you! We were beyond appreciate of this.
Also, great view of stars you can even see the Milky Way!
We plan on coming back, thank you. :)
Wonderful place to stay! Close to Glacier Stare Park. Excellent hosts, problem with water that they quickly fixed. Beautiful cabin, very quiet and peaceful.would definitely stay again.
