Great hotel in a great location for the city. The rooms are a good size. Breakfast great, that's why we chose the Maritim, for their signature breakfasts! The downside for me was the sofa bed (3rd person) wasn't very comfortable and noisy. The gentleman at the breakfast check in was lovely, very welcoming.

Large hotel in a great location next to the old town square, perfect location. Rooms comfy, bathroom shower has no door so water floods the bathroom every time you use the shower. Breakfast was average , seated in a huge open space, Limited choice. I’d use the hotel again as the location is where you want to be in Cologne

The fitness center shows weights on their website. No weights. 1 of the 3 elevators was out of service every day. The sauna in the fitness center was out of service. At breakfast the buffet frequently ran out of food and the wait was kind of long. The hotel is old and so is the room decor and furnishings. The place desperately needs an update. The Piano Bar has no piano player. Only a couple of times per MONTH.

Fabulous position for dining (and shopping). We were at Köln Messe - an easy and safe 15 minute walk to the Messe - also east 15 minute walk to train station.

Worth the cost
Easy to check in and close proximity to many different tourist sites and many Christmas markets. Generally seemed safe to walk around at night. The hotel itself is beautiful and decorated well for Christmas. Room was spacious and clean. Amenities were good. Didn't get to check out the pool/sauna bc they closed early. It was a little on the pricey side, but compared to other German cities, I think Cologne is just a little more expensive. Overall I felt the cost was worth the value.

I tried to get room service unsuccessfully for the 5 nights I was staying, but no one ever picked up the phone for this service. Front desk said to "just keep trying but they might not pick up if they are busy." An elevator was broken (which was the same elevator that was broken when i came here 7-8 months ago and creates HUGE traffic jams in the morning when everyone is trying to get breakfast/check-out. Would have to wait for multiple elevators before one was empty enough to fit on. Front desk staff is friendly but not knowledgable about anything in the hotel rooms. A/C didn't work in my room. Bathroom flooded when i took a bath (but was fine with showers. Rooms are in dire need of updates. LOVE the location of this hotel...which is why i have stayed several times, but will no longer stay here unfortunately.

This is the perfect hotel for the Christmas Markets . With 2 directly opposite the market and the others in easy walking distance. Very close to all the restaurants and shops. Walking distance to the Cathedral too .

Short Christmas market break
Stayed for 4 nights in this lovely hotel. It’s a large hotel and our room was very spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable and the facilities in the room were good - tea and coffee, hairdryer, plenty of hangers, fridge, lots of towels etc. If you didn’t need your room servicing daily you could put a little bag and sign outside your room and they left you a pack of muesli! It’s ideally located for all the central markets. A couple are literally across the road. It’s a 15 minute walk from the main station with bus and tram stops just across the road. There are lots of nice places to eat and bars within five minutes of the hotel and the main shopping are is close by also. If I came back to Cologne I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here 14 years ago and upon revisiting nothing changed, desperately in need of update and refresh. Rooms clean although pool area needs some work. Rooms too hot, found this 14 years ago too but aircon doesn't work. Happy as short stay as clean and OK but as base as location good, but if you want modern look elsewhere.

This is the perfect place to stay for the Christmas Markets. Book early, though! The hotel breakfast, while a little expensive, was totally worth it. The only minus was that the false fire alarm went off late one evening, and there was barely a "sorry" or acknowledgement from the staff.

This hotel was perfect - it is within walking distance of the Hauptbahnhof and lots of shopping, restaurants, transportation. The breakfast that was included was amazing,hotel was clean, rooms are spacious. The only thing I would say is that there were only two elevators working which weren't enough for how many rooms there are. It was sometimes a struggle to get on an elevator because of all the people waiting or already on, or there was a considerable wait.

Beautiful hotel in a convenient location for visiting the Cathedral and Old Town area. The room was very nice and very clean and comfortable. On our week-long Germany trip, this was the most impressive breakfast we had. So many options! It was fantastic.
