The best time to visit Colca is during the dry season, which runs from May to November.During these months, the weather is generally sunny with clear skies, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and condor watching. Temperatures are comfortable during the day, typically ranging from 15°C to 20°C, though evenings and early mornings can be quite cool, often dropping to near freezing. This period offers the best visibility for seeing the Andean condors in the Colca Canyon, particularly at prime viewing spots like Cruz del Condor. For those who enjoy trekking and exploring the natural landscapes, the dry season provides the most favourable conditions. The trails are less muddy and easier to navigate, ensuring a more enjoyable and stress-free adventure through the canyon. You'll find that the clear weather also makes for excellent photography opportunities, capturing the stunning vistas of the terraced fields and deep valleys. While December to April is the wet season, characterised by more frequent rainfall, it can still be a good time to visit if you prefer fewer crowds and don't mind occasional showers. The landscape is much greener during these months, and the rivers are fuller, offering a different kind of beauty.
