"We stayed at Highlander Mountain House for our 5-year wedding anniversary and overall the property itself is beautiful. The rooms were clean, the design and atmosphere are amazing, and the location is one of our favorites in Highlands. We also loved The Ruffed Grouse and the overall experience of the hotel. The only downside was the noise situation during our stay. The hotel was fully booked with a wedding party, and unfortunately the guests in the room next to us were extremely loud both Thursday and Friday night, continuing well past 1am. We even politely asked them ourselves to keep it down, but it continued. I completely understand people are celebrating and having a special weekend, but when rooms are this close together, there should be a little more consideration for other guests staying at the property, especially those also there for quiet getaways or anniversaries. I also think the hotel staff should take more precautions when hosting full wedding weekends to help separate non-wedding guests or better manage noise expectations late at night. It honestly put a damper on what was otherwise a really special anniversary trip for us, which is disappointing because everything else about the property was wonderful."

"We had a wonderful time. The decks and outside fireplace were fantastic. Property clean. Kitchen has all we needed. Communication with host was the best I’ve ever experienced. Some things a little dated and need some cozy blankets. But would definitely stay again and highly recommend it."

"One of our favorite Highlands vacation homes! Close to town and also terrific walkable neighborhood that is quiet and has lovely views. Especially enjoy the screened in porch for morning coffee. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for eating meals in and also close enough to enjoy restaurants in Highlands. Comfortable and immaculate bedrooms and baths and simple check in. We love the large dining table to do jigsaw puzzles while enjoying tv and fireplace. Thanks for another perfect visit!!"

"Beautiful space, very comfortable inside and out. Lake view was wonderful and canoeing was an added bonus to the trip. There are stairs outside and inside but not insurmountable. We would definitely rent again. Loved the location! "

"The cottage was clean and spacious for a quick weekend to Highlands, NC. Living room w fireplace was perfect for an early morning coffee in front of fireplace and a nap mid-afternoon. The two bedrooms had comfortable beds and linens for hot and cold sleepers. We had several options for coffee machines and we threw a pizza in the oven late night. The cottage is a quick drive to shopping and restaurants. High marks: as a guest, we were not asked to change bed linens, vacuum, clean the bathroom…in other words we were in and out without home owner chores. Hurrah ! If all vacation rentals were this..vacation”ish”. I could live there. Thank you. bg "
