Wonderful environment, friendly staff, great menu and healthy options. The concierge lady and the HR were exceptional .. just that check in wait took longer than expected but overall we enjoyed our stay.
The service at Ciala is always top notch. This is my third time staying with them and they are always hospitable. Our TV was missing from our room, so check in was a bit delayed and they had to separate our beds which we had asked for before we arrived, but other than that, if you need a place to relax, it is great to wind down there.
Just a little off the main road. Arrange pick up earlier since cabs can take as long as 30 minutes. Excellent property!!! The gardening is out of this world
Overall good place to stay…. Salty food.. some broken amenities, typical to Kenya. Most of the staff were excellent. Would recommend - a bit pricey though. It’s not quite there.
Ciala is the best resort in Kisumu and the pricing is very affordable. We booked a couple rooms, since we had a big party. The staff was incredibly friendly. Security team was great.
The pool was nice. They had a kids area and plenty of area to run around. One neat thing they did was catch your own fish and the staff would cook it for you from a giant fish tank. Think of it like picking a lobster, but with a lake twist.
Very easy to recommend. Will gladly book again.

Property had hot water only in the mornings. If you want to take a shower in the afternoon or night it was only cold water. No robes in room. Breakfast is good but lunch and dinner meals need improving.
The property is well maintained and staff very friendly. I didn't like the fact that it took them more than 30 minutes to check us in but this disappointment was more than compensated by their juicy juices. The staff also were willing to go out of their way to carry our small bags, which was a bit vexing. They might have picked this habit from the expectation/attitude of some "waheshimiwa" guests.
Breakfast was pretty good.
We went in for lunch and it took more than one hour to get it ready. This was perplexing. However, the lunch turned out to be pretty good.
Overall, some of us are very conscious of time and I more than mentioned to the receptionist this. It will be nice if the management can take this into account. Everything else was pretty good.

I think they can do better. First was assigned the wrong room which they corrected, then they assured me of a refund and checked me out early due to an emergency then did not approve the refund through Expedia as was promised. Overall, the resort is beautiful and very private but out of town (about 40 minutes from Kisumu town).
I can't even begin to tell you how absolutely AMAZING and beautiful this place is! From beginning to end I was treated like royalty. I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend this place. I will be visiting every time I come to Kenya.
Beautiful resort, good food, good service. The only problems we had were at check-in and in communications. They couldn't find our reservation, at first, and then they wanted to charge an extra 8000ks per day for our daughter, even though the reservation stated 2 adults and one child. We did end up paying 4000ks per day for an extra bed. Also, the pool closed at 6pm,but someone told us it was okay to swim, then another man told us we couldn't. At dinner, they gave us soft drinks as part of the half board, the first night, then tried to charge us the next night. Communications not always great.
