"Lovely country hotel"
From the beautiful reception lobby to the superb bistro and restaurant, this hotel is a lovely place to stay. This was a return visit for myself and my wife and we were not disappointed. We had a lovely top floor room, even though it had not yet been refurbished and we ate in the Nelson pub, the food being superb, fresh and beautifully presented...great cocktails in Ciro's too!! We had our coffee in the lovely courtyard which was a great finish. Try the pool and steam/sauna rooms to relax which are a great bonus. All staff were very professional and helpful and we had a great short stay here...well done to all staff and management, this was a fantastic deal through Expedia at a top hotel.

"A lovely hotel with an exceptional restaurant."
We were exhausted when we got here (flew back from Singapore the day before) and frankly I booked here because "it was a bed"! We had driven for 4.5 hours to get there as we were collecting our puppy the next morning. The receptionists were friendly and welcoming and one showed us to our room. What a surprise. Spacious room with lovely view over a deer park type garden. Large very comfy bed and large very nice bathroom. Plenty of tea and coffee and fresh milk in the fridge. We went down to dinner and there is a very elegant bar with friendly knowledgeable staff. The food was exceptional. I can recommend the "melt in the mouth" beef wellington. However the whole meal was excellent and very professionally prepared and presented. Congratulations Rookery Hall, you made a one night stay an occasion! (breakfast was very good too)

"Beautiful setting"
We stayed for one night in respect of a small wedding on Saturday. Couldn't book in until 3pm which meant we had to prepare for the wedding in the Spa facility. We were able to access our room at 2.30. Room was adequate but small. Overnight guests outside were noisy into early hours. Wedding well organised and in a beautiful setting. Staff were friendly and helpful.

"Good value and quality, easy to find, good parking"
I stayed one night on business during April. The room was easy to find but quite a long way from reception. However this meant it was quiet and had a nice view on a grassy area and trees beyond. Car parking is excellent; it is spacious and safe. Breakfast was in my room rate. It was mainly a nice buffet with a good choice. In addition toast, coffee and eggs bacon etc were available to order. Service was very quick. Good breakfast. The restaurant was quite quiet and the staff extremely pleasant and attentive (perhaps I was asked a few times too many whether the food was OK). The smoked salmon starter was a bit boring and unadventurous but the main course steak was very nice. The room was nice and large with a sofa and large bed. The bathroom was OK with good towels. The shower temperature was a little difficult to set. All very clean and tidy. The radiator in the room had an easy to use temperature control that allowed me to get the room temperature just right. Recommended, nothing really wrong with this hotel.

"Great country house hotel"
I stayed there on a hot midweek day in May, as I thought it would be great to get out of the usual corporate hotels for my business trip. Was richly rewarded with a great room (4 poster bed), and excellent breakfast. My only niggle was that the bathroom looked a bit tired, and needed refreshing, but this is really minor in the scheme of things. I wanted to go walking in the surrounding countryside, but the guy on duty couldn't help with that. Luckily another guest directed me to the local pub where I could pick up a walking map for free. The bar accommodated my very late meal request which was great. The Receptionist the next day - who also served me breakfast - was very engaging and helpful. I would definitely recommend and look forward to returning.
