The court yard looked nice with all fhe trees in bloom. Staff very nice and friendly. Breakfast was very limited but was convenient. Parking lot was Dark hardly any light. Was about 10 minutes from Busch Gardens straight shot.

Fort Magruder is an Old beauty of a hotel, decent sized rooms, lots of space, my stay was incredibly quiet and comfortable, and the location was pretty good as well, I would definitely stay here again!

It didn't look like it was going to be nice until you get inside. Breakfast was the usual waffles, biscuits and gravy, cereal, yogurt. Coffee and juice. The courtyard was just getting ready to bloom. Look so peaceful.

Roaches on walls, dirty, dusty, very old and dated. Bulbs burned out, furniture scratched, shower head falling off wall, Heat/A/C didnt work, smells musty thoughout the facility. Other than that breakfast was ok. I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Great location, historical, close to area attractions. Only negative is hotel maintenance seems to be lacking. I.e., hallway carpets worn out in spots, most ice makers out of order, noisy AC.

Our room had a cracked sink and rust on the bathtub. The furniture was old and stained . There was an old tv stand in the room that doubled as a drawer for clothes. The lights in the hallway were out making it feel dark and unsafe. The lobby was beautiful. Sadly, in my opinion this hotel is very run down. Don’t stay there.

Nothing was operating like a hotel should. Hot water didn’t work most of the time, then tub didn’t drain, carpets were torn, wrinkled and often wet, ceiling was leaking in a hall with a bucket catching water, iron in the room didn’t work for Easter Sunday outfits, not a single ice machine on property worked, the pool area was disgusting, the cafe wasn’t open as advertised, the buffet was repulsive and dirty, the mattresses didn’t have covers on them, the towels were dingy, the floors were peeling as trip hazards in the lobby. They clearly spent all funds on the lobby by the conference area because that’s the ONLY area worth paying to be in. I wrote messages to the hotel about our issues before writing a review with no reply. Clearly understaffed but this place needs to be shut down.

The hotel was bigger than I expected. Everything was laid out nicely. Really large lobby with plenty of seating and a nice fireplace. It is an older facility and you can tell by the family worn down carpet in the common areas. The breakfast could have been a little better with some type of meat and more fresh fruit. Overall it was a short and decent stay. I would stay there again.

The smell from mold, cigarettes, etc was gross. The smell didn't penetrate into the rooms thank goodness. The rooms were not good. The HVAC system made so much noise (when turned off) we had to change rooms. Friday night and there were only two staff people there one of whom was "new" and didn't know what to do. Why would any property leave a new person all alone. Staff when asked basic questions were rude and uninterested.

The hotel lobby was the nicest part of the hotel. I am guessing it was recently redone as the rest of the hotel is very outdated. The carpet is old and stained and has a musty smell. It should be replaced. The bedding on the beds appeared to be for the wrong size bed as it didn't cover the mattress and the mattress stains were evident. The fridge made loud noises that sounded like a hamster running all night. The toilet ran a lot and we had to jiggle the handle. The ice machines on floors 4 and 3 did not work, so, we had to go to the one on floor 1 for ice every day. Only 1 washer and 1 dryer were working. The clothes were not fully dry after running the dryer for 1 cycle. The laundry was one of the reasons I picked this hotel as we were in town for a tournament and had to wash the uniforms. The breakfast was your usual small buffet. The area was quiet and parking was plentiful. We didn't use the pool/hot tub, but some of our friends did and they enjoyed it. The Wi-Fi was outstanding and I don't say that very often. The staff was just ok on customer service.

While I haven't been to Fort Magruder in awhile, the rooms are tired, furniture chipped/chair with stains. There we we facial tissues and 1/4 roll of toilet paper. It was sad to see such a fine hotel deteriorate so much.

Nice winter stay at Fort Magruder.
We enjoyed our stay at the Fort Magruder. The details about the fort were very interesting. The room was clean and comfortable. All staff members were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast each morning. The dining area was clean and equipped with everything we needed. The only negative thing that I can say is that we arrived after dark and there was no lighted sign, so we had some difficulty in finding the hotel. Other than that, everything was great. We would definitely stay here again if we return to the area.

The staff was amazing. breakfast was ok. Rooms were decent. The price was fantastic, Pool was good. They are Pet friendly and that matters the most ro me. However, I Wish they didn't charge $26,00 per pet per day, I felt taken advantage of.

Staffs customer service was incredibly poor overall. No one wanted to help, I called downstairs to inquire about the poor quality of bed… no hot water… mattress coils were broken. The elevator is broken, no toilet paper in room, microwave located in lobby didn’t work.. ice machine on our floor didn’t work.. went to fourth floor instead… We would never stay or recommend this location. We stay in Williamsburg twice a month.

The worker at the front desk treated myself (and others around) with disrespect. She was so rude to me. We was promised by another staff (by the way the staff was all kind but this person.) that we could stay a 3rd night since Bush Gardens closed yesterday. The front desk lady identified herself as front desk manager, said “I will not honor it I fact you can leave”. We had paid for another night but was requesting an additional night ”. What an experience! We ended up at a different Hotel for the 3rd night that treated us and thoose around us with respect.

The building itself was nice and had potential. You could tell they were having some minor issues, though, and had closed their restaurant for remodeling. Several lights were out in the hallways, the housekeeping staff took minor shortcuts in the cleaning process. We were notified ahead of time that they were not going in to clean rooms unless your stay was longer than 3 nights, so didn’t expect daily linen service. The breakfast was also lacking in choice as well as staff. From what I saw of the area, it looks like this is pretty much the same industry wide.
