Comfort Inn & Suites Watertown - 1000 Islands

"I booked this hotel for the pool. Usually I stay in Fort Drum for a lower price, but travelling companion wanted a pool. When you search Watertown for hotels with a pool, this location is identified along with others with pools. A photo of the pool is the second photo for this listing and there is a second photo in the list. The search summary for the location shows a swimmer icon and the word "pool" is prominent in the description. But naw you gotta read the fine print. Upon arrival when we asked about pool hours, we learned it had not been open for 5 months. The night clerk sharing us this information was quite nice. But it was odd that he was wearing a Hawaiian type shirt featuring the Marvel/ Spider-Man character "Venom". And only upon check out did we learn that they can arrange for use of the pool at the Hampton Inn and Suites (was told there is common ownership of the Watertown locations). And many excuses given for the misleading Hotels.com listing. Hampton Inn and Suites was the other option I was considering booking ... because it has a pool. So, basically I have ended up paying $60 more for no additional value. Room is fine. Breakfast is fine. Disappointed that you need to study the fine print of the listing to see that there is no pool access - even though there were incredibly strong indicators that the pool was operational. Never again will I stay at this location or brand. Likely will skip the Hampton Inn too, given the common ownership/management."

"We came for a short 1 night stay and it was simply perfect New beds. Thick towels, very clean and comfortable rooms We used the grill outside and had a small picnic The only thing that I am wondering is if it was more guests that wanted to use the grill and outdoor table (only one of each) how we would manage that task Otherwise I have no complaints"

"We enjoyed our stay - the house was very clean and tidy. Check in was a breeze and the caretakers were very acccomidating and helpful. The house was very spacious, the kitchen and dining room nicely sized and provided enough room for everyone to have some quiet time.The house was situated near an Aldis and close enough to the highway - which was great for getting around. Would definately recommend for a family getaway for extended stay."

"The perfect stay in nature, as much modern comfort as you could need. The Cabins for both sleeping and the bathroom stay toasty even when it's freezing outside, and the eating area is well managed to minimize bugs. Kevin (the host), makes himself scarce retaining that sense of privacy. But don't let him, as he's excellent company and one of the most helpful people you'll ever meet. He has wonderful stories to tell and is a knowledgeable local guide. This is one of the few local places that allow pets and ours loved it. The only things to note is the network isn't fast (but you shouldn't be here for that) and since you're in nature there are bugs.I'd definitely recommend staying, and I'll be going back with my family again. "
