Beautiful Resort

Beautiful property and the staff are exceptional. One note for anyone traveling without a vehicle to the property, you need to pre-arrange transportation for your departure. We didn't realize this and almost missed our flight out of Charleston.

The Sanctuary is a first class hotel. The location, (right on the beach), is beautiful. Service is outstanding and rooms are immaculate. The Sanctuary always provide a great experience and it is the only place we will stay when visiting Kiawah.

For the type of resort it was very surprising to see so many screaming little kids running in the hallways everywhere. Made it impossible to relax. Need to put rules around that for those parents that allow this behavior.

Everything was fine but the Ocean Room served us a grossly overpriced bottle of wine, liquid potato purée that had been described by the waitress as mashed, and insultingly tiny ice cream dessert portions. The Porch had a better and more realistic wine list.

I requested a warm plate for the buffet breakfast, was told warm plates are only available when ordering off the menu!! No grab rails in ‘marble’ bathroom/shower seems dangerous, a fall risk. The pull on the ceiling fan was inaccessible without standing on a chair, again a fall risk.
