5/5 Excellent
"Cool retro vibe at this spot. Each time I encountered hotel staff, they were super friendly and helpful. Asked for a roll away bed and was offered an upgrade in room - I turned it down because we wanted the King, but it was a fine offer that was greatly appreciated. Dined at the Waffle Spot attached to the hotel, it was bomb. Pool area and jacuzzi were excellent. Along "Hotel Circle" which doesn't have a ton of restaurants itself, but it very close to several large groupings of them and the location for seeing all of San Diego area is quite good - easy connections to local highways and close to a lightrail stop where we drove over, parked, and took the "trolley" into downtown. Lighting in the room was kinda weak, but I did enjoy the overall retro feel like the throwback looking (but modern) mini fridge. Only real issue I had was with the CLIENTELE! The whole hotel is non-smoking rooms, but there were certainly some folk trying to smoke just outside a room, or while walking by some rooms. Some of this drifted over into the pool area - not cool smokers, not cool. Overall though, would I stay again? Absolutely. Sir Wafflelot... I'll be back."
