Hands down one of the most unique, clean, and friendly, places I e stayed in my years of travel. The history just on the property alone could be a quick weekend getaway but surrounded by all of the other things to see in Amana this should be on everyone’s short list of places to visit and stay.
It’s a really neat hotel. A ton of money was spent on the restoration and it is so well done. I would give it 5 stars but they didn’t insulate the walls and they are paper thin. Also the room we had was on the main floor and it smelled a little musty. The food in the restaurant was very good. I felt overall it was good value for the money and we did really enjoy the Amanas
Hotel Milwright is a gem. This is the second time at the hotel and it is always a treat. The rooms are spacious and inviting, and the location is ideal for a little retreat.
Everything about our stay was great. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was exceptional...loved the large walk-in shower ! Very interesting displays and artifacts from Amana's history throughout the hotel.
This hotel has done a beautiful job in reusing the historic Amana woolen mill. I have stayed in many reuse buildings, but this is the nicest. You feel very much connected to the history, without an ounce of kitsch. I also really appreciated the way they used Iowa wildflowers for landscaping, including lots of milkweed plants, which are the plants monarch butterflies rely on.
When we checked into our room it smelled musty. Went to the front desk and requested a room change and were immediately put into another room. Our room was very quiet and the room was well appointed. The bed was very comfortable.
We had breakfast at the hotel and it was very delish and well portioned. The bar offers a good variety of beverages and has a small seating area for small groups. There also an outside seating area with a bar area.
Hotel Millwright exceeded expectations by far. Beautiful and meaningful use of a property rich with history and culture. Rooms are immaculate and very spacious. Hotel staff are welcoming, helpful and friendly - especially Dave at the front desk.
Thank you for a truly relaxing and enjoyable stay!
