With new safety guidelines to adhere to, travel looks a bit different in this day and age. These are some helpful things to know before you get on that plane to Catalina Island National Park:

• Before booking anything, find out if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your origin and destination. Get up-to-date information by checking official government websites.
• When you go through airport screening, do not remove your face mask. You will be asked to briefly lower it to confirm your identity. Passengers who refuse to wear a mask may face civil penalties and may also be denied boarding.
• Rather than handing a TSA agent your boarding pass, place it directly on the reader yourself. Once that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• One container of liquid hand sanitizer is now permitted in your carry-on bag. It must be no bigger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll have to take it out of your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• Place any personal items (phone, wallet and keys) in your carry-on rather than a bin to reduce handling during the screening process.
• Separate any food you have for X-ray screening. Placing it in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA officer to touch and inspect your belongings.

• American Airlines - this airline is known for providing passenger masks and cleaning with disinfectant.
• Delta - this airline is known for electrostatic cleaning and cleaning with disinfectant.
