Wonderful Wyoming Getaway
We had an amazing time at Red Butte Ranch. Beautiful location, great host (Ruth), incredible scenery and great fishing. 5 of us stayed in the lodge with more than enough room and peace and quiet. We had a great time winding down in the evenings, watching basketball and playing ping pong. Everything you need for cooking is there, Beds were very comfortable, everything was very clean, and it even had a nice garage and laundry room to dry out our fishing gear and warm it up for the next day. I would recommend staying here to anyone, and I will not stay anywhere else in the Alcova/Casper area. Thanks Ruth we will see you next time.

Beautiful location and comfortable
This was a family trip and we really enjoyed the large home. There’s a great wrap around deck with comfortable outdoor seating and views of red butte and the river. Fly fishing just steps away from back yard. The home was well appointed with just about everything you need. Beds were comfortable. Ruth was very nice and easy to communicate with. Thank you for allowing us to share your beautiful home. I hope we get to come back next summer. 🙂

Not child safe
House is in decent shape. Feels a lot like someone inherited Grandma's house and turned it right around to rent it out. Nice and clean; great location right on the river. Not as secluded as the photos make it seem but a great location anyhow. Don't expect to be able to lock up at night as the sliding glass doors don't lock and you won't get the key code for the door. According to the host, "we don't need locks here" (whatever that means) but maybe don't bring anything too valuable. The issues all seem to be with the host. First, we saw in the listing that check in time is 10:00 AM, so we made plans to be there at 10. When driving from Oregon to Wyoming, this affected our plans pretty significantly. Once we got close, we hadn't heard anything, so we messaged the host... turns out check in is 2 pm. The host did work on getting us in earlier, and we checked in around 12:30, but it was frustrating to have planned around one time and end up having to wait. The biggest issue occurred later in our trip. We had several small kids with us, and one of them opened the door to a bedroom while an adult was behind it. The mirror attached to the back of the door fell off and broke. Fortunately, the adult who was there only got a small cut, but it could have been much worse if the kid was the one behind the door. Looking at it afterwards, the mirror was only secured with a few screws and washers (not actual glass clips) on 3 sides, which was a bit frightening. We got it cleaned up and contacted the host to apologize and offer to reimburse her for the cost of the mirror. The response was not "oh no, hope everyone's ok", it was "I just don't know what to say. It's not about the money, it's about the people who used to live here." Super awkward (if this stuff is so important, why is it in a VRBO that you rent out to families with kids?) and rather baffling. She will also just walk in the house and call for someone if she needs to talk to you rather than messaging or knocking, which was also odd and rather off-putting. Hopefully the host can fix some of the issues, because it really is a pretty place, but we probably won't be back.
