Ancient Casale of 800 of 160 square meters. on a hillock at 450 m. which dominates two sides, between Siena, Volterra and San Gimignano. Completely renovated in green building, saving every artifact and detail of the era. Garden of 3600 square meters. fenced and pond.

The accommodation
Originally an ancient barn from the 1700s, it was completely renovated into green building in 1999, saving every artefact and particular of the era.
Spread over two floors, for a total of approx. 160 square meters, with access to each floor, as the land is degrading. It is located on a hillock, at 450 m, which dominates two slopes.
From the farmyard there is the main entrance which leads to a room divided into a TV area with bookcases and wall furniture, living room with fireplace, dining area. Small bathroom; kitchen with fireplace and wood-burning oven, double basin sink with drainer in a single block dug in travertine, like the covering of the cooking areas, the wooden parts have been obtained from ancient feeders.
Through an ancient travertine staircase you go down and you enter the lower rooms composed of a double bedroom with a "French" bed with a sitting area, a built-in wardrobe; study with library, with access to the back; large bathroom with tub and shower; second double bedroom.
On the back a berceaux with the possibility of having lunch outside in good weather; and this year a nice barbecue was built to make happy barbecues and to serve them hot, hot .... cooked and eaten!
The terracotta floors and the doors of the sleeping area come from the demolition of an '700 villa, also the material added to the restoration of the original derives from the recovery of ancient buildings, in order not to alter the flavor and the patina of the time.
The heating is baseboard, then radiators have been added to maximize the thermo fireplace, a priority source of heat, in addition to the boiler.
Outside 3600 square meters they are fenced and covered with laurel, privet, jasmine and rose bushes. Also in the outbuildings there is the woodshed, a small workshop and tool shed. The house is supplied by water coming from a source for the use of the toilets, dishes, dishwasher and washing machine, while the water to drink cooking is provided free of charge in the bottle.

  • Cascate del Diborrato - Parco fluviale dell'Elsa Inside the residential area of Colle Val d'Elsa is a historic and natural landscape of enormous value thanks to the Elsa River which crosses the Val d'Elsa creating a unique territory. The river creates enchanting corners for hiking and observing: the engineering works for gathering water, the artifical canal system for carrying the water to the city, the caves. A particularly suggestive point is the Diborrato water falls, a 15m jump which is more than 10m deep, a sort of small lake where the locals used to go to cool off. Monteriggioni began as a border fortress built on a round hill by Sienna against the Florentines. It is famous for the intact defensive structure that held up against repeated Florentine attacks in the 11th century; its 10 meter high walls and 14 towers can still be seen for miles around. Monteriggioni has been featured in movies as a typical medieval village. The village is slightly elliptical in shape with two gates (a third has been plugged). The major gate tourists will use when coming from the parking lot, Porta Franca, owes its name to the Via Francigena--Monteriggione was a major stop on the pilgrimage trail from Cantebury to Rome. Monteriggioni is located in the province of Siena, 14km to the northwest of Siena (54km from Florence). While it can be done as a day trip from Siena, you might be better off staying the night--Monteriggioni is much more evocative when the tourists leave late in the afternoon and you can sit in a courtyard sipping a glass of Chianti. Monteriggioni is surrounded by vineyards, and is known for its wine production.
