This irrigation flume continuously leaks water onto the roadway below as it ages gracefully since its 1929 completion. It replaced the original wooden structure built in the 1880s that eventually collapsed. A stone cottage was built adjacent to this spot for the water manager to live in while maintaining water levels for the farmers and citizens of Carlsbad.

"The location of the house is perfect for walking to the water park, splash pad, play ground and swimming beach on the river. The house itself is in disrepair.
