THE SPACE

Welcome to your luxury studio cabin, a thoughtful and well-designed 650 sq. ft. retreat perfect for your ultimate Southern Illinois experience. Our cabin is the newest addition to Dam Near Lake of Egypt Cabins—a cheeky name for a surprisingly delightful getaway!

Step inside to an open, airy living space with vaulted wood ceilings and sunlight pouring through the windows. The cabin features a fully-equipped kitchen, a modern bathroom with a washer and dryer, and a cozy living area with a Smart TV. Just outside, a large covered deck overlooks a serene, fishable, swimmable pond, offering beautiful water views right from your door.

This waterfront property is your private oasis. Spend your days relaxing on the small private beach, paddling on the pond (paddle boards provided), or fishing for bass and bluegill. In the evening, gather around your private fire pit with loved ones—we even provide the firewood.

GUEST ACCESS

You'll have complete and private access to the entire cabin. Enjoy a seamless self-check-in experience using a keypad on the door. Your unique access code will be sent to you automatically via email immediately after you book.
Your access includes the cabin, the private covered deck, the fire pit, and shared access to the pond and beach area.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Our cabin is perfectly situated just one mile from the Lake of Egypt dam, making it an ideal base for exploring the region's best attractions. You are just minutes away from local wineries, scenic hiking trails, and fantastic fishing and boating opportunities.

During the lake season, you may hear the sounds of live music on weekends from the local bait store and marina. It's a pleasant reminder of the vibrant local atmosphere that carries across the fields to the cabins.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Our 5-acre property includes our main home and three guest cabins, which are separated by a privacy fence. All three cabins share access to the 1.5-acre pond.
We provide a starter supply of 3 rolls of toilet paper and 1 roll of paper towels to get you settled in. We provide bath towels, but please remember to bring your own beach towels for the pond.
You may also be greeted by our friendly Golden Retriever, Kevin, who occasionally wanders over to say hello to guests!

HOUSE RULES

To ensure a wonderful stay for everyone, we ask that you please observe the following rules:
Check-in after 3:00 PM
Check-out before 10:00 AM
Pets: We are dog-friendly! A fee of $50 per dog is required, with a maximum of 2 dogs per stay. Please inform us about your pets prior to arrival. A $150 penalty will be applied if an unreported pet is discovered after your stay.
Guests & Parties: Daytime guests are welcome, but loud, disruptive parties are not permitted.
Grill: Please bring your own charcoal for the grill.

Weekend Getaway

My children and I needed to get away and spend some time together. Ages 15, 14 and two 7 year olds and all had a wonderful time. We spent time paddle boarding and enjoying the peaceful view, we hiked to some waterfalls and napped. It was a lovely weekend and the cabin was beautiful, the kids begged to stay here again!

Micro cabin stay

It was amazing. So glad i booked it. We wanted a place close to the marina for fishing. Couldn't have gotten much closer! It was well decorated an comfy, had all we needed! Icing on top was the purple door! Totally recommend! Allison an her property manager were great!

Great getaway

This was a great little getaway for my husband, me and our doggos. It was a little drive to get anywhere but we knew that going in. The cabin is on a pond with a couple of other cabins. It was sufficiently private but made it seem not so lonely and out there at night - which is a good thing. We would definitely rent there again if headed that way.

Great little spot!

This cabin was just perfect for us two senior citzens and our dog. The location worked out well for us to explore Shawnee National Park. We are photographers there to find the perfect fall color. We enjoyed our morning coffee on the deck looking over the pond watching the deer and chickens. The cabin was clean and spacious, had everything we needed. The only thing we would change would be to have a walk in shower rather than the deep bathtub. Since the weather was so beautiful we had a fire in the firepit one evening and enjoyed visiting with the owners when they stopped by. We would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it to others.

Great cabin in southern Illinois!

This was the perfect place for me to stay while visiting southern Illinois. The cabin is located in a private area, but it's just a quick drive to Marion, which allows for numerous food, drinks, and fun. I loved the decor and atmosphere of the cabin - it also provided all of the things needed to cook meals, etc. I'd recommend this property to anyone!

Shawnee NF Central location

Very nice, clean cabin. Fantastic outdoor space, very nice deck overlooking pond. Centrally located between east and west ends of Shawnee National Forest. Very convenient for our extended weekend trip. We will certainly book again when we return to the area!

We enjoyed our stay although it was cut short.

We generally enjoyed our stay. We had to purchase a bedspread for the Murphy bed and there was a little cleaning issue but it's a beautiful property and location.

Great tiny cabin for a lake weekend

Great tiny cabin within a few minute drive to the lake. Well appointed, modern, and clean. We enjoyed the covered back porch on the pond - perfect for evening cookouts. Check in and out was a breeze. Highly recommend and will definitely stay here again

Owners left town and chaos ensued

The owners left town for the weekend & we soon discovered why. On Saturday night, there was a loud concert until 1am. Shortly after Woodstock started, we lost power & had no idea what happened. We texted the owner, someone else had the business phone and couldn't help us except to say the owner left. Wow. Eventually the power came back on but the concert went on & on. We thought it might end at 11pm & we could get some sleep but it went until 1am on Sunday. If we had been honestly told about Woodstock taking place, we might have gone to the show or booked someplace else. This felt like a clear deception. After the power came back on, we still had no wifi & the person with the phone could not give us instructions as to what to do. Sunday morning, still no wifi so we cut our stay short and left to get connected to work. The property itself was small & you were basically restricted to your cabin so having no electric & then no wifi was an obvious problem. There were no instructions in the cabin of any kind & the website didn't explain if there was a way we could have gone over to the owner's house to reset the wifi feed somehow by ourselves. The owner never phoned us & apologized, so this was completely mishandled unfortunately. Lastly, there were cleaning issues, wasps everywhere & bullfrogs made noise all day/night. Forget about sleeping. We liked Ferne Clyffe State Park and recommend that and the Vault restaurant in Marion.

A great long weekend

The place is exactly as listed and the owners were very responsive to any question or need we had on the trip. It was very clean, organized, and had all the essentials things that we needed. The cabin is very close to several great hiking areas as well as a few grocery shops and multiple restaurants. We loved staying in this cabin and we will definitely come back again.

Burnt-Out Mom needed break

This was exactly what I needed. I wanted to get away for a few days but could never coordinate with my kids sports/school schedule. Got away on my own/ this cabin was perfect for one person. (Or a couple with small kids) the owner really has a knock for decorating, lighting, and thinking if everything. Pots, pans, utensils, soap, charcoal, lighter, firewood, spices, washer/dryer all provided. Centrally located to everything you want to see in southern illinois. Even if shawnee forest is 45 minutes fro here, it was a Beautiful therapeutic drive.

Amazing! Such great hosts!

We had to deal with a serious issue with our vehicle during our trip that left us having to make some slight changes to our reservation and the hosts were so understanding and accommodating. The absolute best! Can’t wait to go again!
