17 Jefferson St.: This beautiful 6 Bedroom and 3 Bathroom (4 in summer), Victorian era home is just 4 houses from Cape May’s finest family beach and a short walk to its best shops and restaurants. When not at the beach, you will be enjoying the home’s large porch with its seven rockers, full hammock, and big views of the ocean. The house sleeps up to 15 and has a driveway with off-street parking for 4-5 cars (!)

We bought the house in Spring 2010 and have invested heavily in renovations and new furniture to make this a superb rental - over $600,000 to date. Virtually every area of the house has been renewed, inside and out. In October 2023, we bought all new living room furniture, including new leather recliners (tasteful). During winter 2024, we rebuilt the front deck, replaced the master's windows, refinished nearly all the floors, and rebuilt the floor of the outside shower. Despite all the changes, our goal is always to keep the 1890 look and feel of the house.

At the same time, we've tried to make the house as comfortable for our guest as possible. The kitchen is well stocked. The game, puzzle, library is also well stocked. There are quality TVs (3), high-speed mesh wifi for streaming, blu-ray DVD players (with a nice library of DVDs) and cable package. There's a Bose bluetooth speaker in the living room and master for music. We keep lots beach chairs, umbrellas, and beach toys for all to use.

Guests will need to bring sheets, pillow cases, towels, and beach towels for their visit. There is a good linen service in town (Sea Dreams), if this is more convenient.

Wonderful home to stay in, great location just a few houses away from the ocean! Lots of stairs, so it may not work for every group, but for our group of 10 people it was wonderful. Great kitchen, very well designed and equipped, beautiful historical touches left in place throughout the home. Front porch was our very favorite spot, plenty of chairs, great afternoon sunlight. Fantastic!

The house was a great place for our family. The kitchen was well supplied while the house kept the Victorian feel. Being so close to the beach is a bonus. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and being able to hear the ocean.

Great location for a fun family stay!

Cannot beat the location, house was steps from the beach and well stocked with beach toys and equipment. We loved the front porch with plenty of seating for the entire family to enjoy the sounds of the ocean. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out throughout the house.

Nice house in great location

Our 2nd time staying here, we really enjoy this house. It's great for our extended family of 13. The location can not be beat, less than block from the beach. Highly recommend for large groups!

Great bachlorette !!

We had an amazing stay here for my 30th birthday/bachelorette weekend!! The house location was perfect for all of our activities planned in Cape May. Close enough to walk pretty much everywhere. The house was super cute and spacious! It had everything we needed!

Wonderful Girls' Weekend

The house was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for a cozy weekend. Very clean, plenty of kitchen supplies. Comfortable seating and the bedrooms were great. Walkable into town and so close to the beach. Everything was great!!

Perfect location and home

Had a short 5 day family vacation . The home was beautiful, warm and so well equipped. The porch was a delightful gathering place. Couldn’t ask for a better location. Close to beach, miniature golf, restaurants and Washington mall.

Beautiful home and great location

We had a wonderful family vacation in this beautiful home with our children and grandchildren. It is in a perfect location to walk to the beach or into town. The front porch and rockers were used daily. The owner was quick to respond to any questions or provide information. I highly recommend staying at this home.

Beautiful and cozy

We had a great stay. The house was beautiful and clean and was a short walk to Washington street. The kitchen was well stocked with all the dishes we needed and we had plenty of space for a large group to eat together and hang out in the living room. The house has a warm cozy feeling and wasn’t drafty for our December trip. Would love to stay here again!

Amazing home

We had a wonderful stay with our children and grandchildren in this beautiful vacation home. It’s just steps to the beach and we were able to easily walk to Washington Mall for shopping and restaurants. We spent every night sitting on the rockers on the front porch. The house was very clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen is fully stocked. I would highly recommend staying here.

Perfect location and amazing house

The house was roomy, updated, and very clean! Had a large group of ladies in for girls weekend and everything was amazing! The front porch was incredible and so roomy we sat 12 comfortably! 2 minute walk to beach and 10 minute tops to the shopping! So many great amenities ! Each bedroom had its own temperature control and unit!! Definitely recommend!

Back in time with all its beauty intact - best description of this home. Every amenity for our modern time and comfort. Wonderful house soo close to beach and bars!

We had a wonderful experience working with the owner! Blair was extremely flexible and responsive before, during, and after our stay. The house was beautiful - perfect for a mixed group of 22-55 year old women to stay for an off-season beach getaway! The beach was very close, and we were within a 10ish minute walk to all the bars and restaurants! Also, the owner was thoughtful about little things - for example, NJ doesn’t have bags at the grocery stores and the house had a bunch of re-usable ones we could take with us when shopping. Overall, we had a great experience. Thanks so much!!

Once Again - Jefferson Street Delivers

We haven’t been to the home in a decade, but tend to come during milestones! We had so much fun from 10weeks old to a newly 80 year old!! So comfortable, easy to live in, and appropriate to call it home. Memories were made and documented that warms our souls. Coming to Cape May in the off-season is just as amazing (and more relaxed) than any other time of year. A great place to bring in Thanksgiving and the start of the holiday season. Thank you Thank you

Beautiful big old house, great location.

Overall good experience. Great location, lots of room for 10 people. Charming old house with lots of character. Lacked some basics like extra blankets, dish towels, soap, shampoo which they admit in their renter's guide. Couldn't find pot holders. Their post-stay cleaning requirements seem a little ridiculous given we pay a supplemental fee for a cleaning service but I imagine the owners may have experienced some renters that trashed the place and are adjusting for that. I would recommend this house for a large family gathering. Lots of space.

Wonderful time!

Our stay at Blair’s place was amazing. We had 8 plus 2 kids under 3. We had plenty of room. Our favorite part of the house was the location—just several houses from the beach and a10 minute walk to shops and a playground. We went to the zoo, Naval Air station, Sunset Beach, lighthouse, and Escape room. All of the beds were comfortable and the outdoor shower was especially nice. The covered porch with rocking chairs was such a pleasant spot to have coffee in the morning. The house was well stocked with beach chairs, umbrellas, and beach toys. There was an issue with one of the air conditioners, but Blair was extremely quick to take care of it and sent out a technician super fast. We would definitely return to this place!

Perfect Fall Getaway

We have been going to Cape May for over 30 years and love to visit during different season. Our daughter was married in Cape May last year, and my in-laws from California had such a great time, that we met again in Cape May this November. This was the perfect house for my family of seven. The porch was wonderful, and the house had everything we needed. There were plenty of rooms (bedrooms and bathrooms), lots of board games, proximity to the beach for morning walks, sunsets, and shell collecting, and a very easy walk to Washington Street stores.We also got lucky with beautiful weather! Finally, Blair was super responsive and timely with responses. We got to Cape May about an hour early and were able to immediately check in. We also were able to stay until noon when checking out. Lucky us! I would totally visit again. Maybe in the summer next time….
